Does the 'Service' indicator be activated only by Time? ie when reset will remind you in another 12months that your next service is due?

I have a service light on my bike, but the service isn't due on miles or time.

Thanks.

If I remember correctly it starts to inform you when you have 500 miles before your next service on the milage side of things. As you turn the key it goes through it's checks and then tells you service and how many miles from the 500. As for time I am not sure as I never get to a year between services:) Sounds like yours needs resetting at the dealers. Of course it might be differant model from model. Mines an 08 GSA

service indicator

just had this issue on my 08 gsa, dealer says milage or time ie 12 mths

Thanks chaps, it's an 08 GS and I think the service indicator wasn't reset at the last service, (before I owned the bike).
According to the log, it's within milage and timescale. I just wanted to make sure there was nothing else that could activate the 'service' indicator.

Cheers

Yep, disconnecting the battery for a few hours, not sure how many, and the instrument cluster (Kombi) will lose track of date and time.

You can reset the time easy enough but will need a gs911 or go to your dealer to have date reset along with your service miles.

It remembers when the service date is but does not know what the current date is so will display the service date anyway even though it could be months away.
