Hi gang

I am in provence at the moment and miles and miles from a BMW dealer. My service is coming up....the bike was serviced some 2500 miles ago in readiness for my trip. The question is....is there a way of canceling the service indicator like one can do with most cars by using a sequence of ignition and trip/time reset buttons. I dont want to drive a zillion miles and get shafted to have it switched off/reset. Any help wud be appreciated. Thx in advance

its a dealer job or someone with a gs911 jobbie, but why worry about it enjoy your trip and ignore it:thumb

Just ignore it - The worst it will do is show the word "Service" on the display while you are riding. Mine is doing it now - started at the weekend while I was on a trip to Scotland. It makes absolutely no difference to how I ride or how much I enjoy the ride.

Thx guys. That what I was thinking....just to leave it.Howevr I have a long trip ahead...switzerland Austria Germany Poland Lithunainia Latvia Russia Finland and finallly upto Nordkapp in Norway and then bak home...anuver 3 months on the road......:beerjug:

It's your call:nenau
Sounds to me like the bike needs the annual inspection service, many savvy dealers will incorporate the elements of a mileage based service and annual into one service if annual mileage is low.

I'd cancel it and come home, sounds serious having a service REMINDER shouting at you all day long, it may damage your eyesight:pullface

I wonder who it was at BMW that decided that riders of their bikes are that stupid that they can't count in multiples of 6000 or know what time of year it is?

:nenau

It's to encourage us to use the dealers and discourage DIY servicing.

Had the bl**dy service indicator appearing today, due in July. Bike has 10,200 miles and I've got a 2,000 mile European trip coming up next month so I'll hold off until I come back...or is it going to explode???
