Further to my other thread about servicing in Turkey, the concensus seems to be "DIY".
Now I've done a service before in the UK, had a few problems, was missing a few tools, that sort of thing. In the UK, this is easily overcome - a quick trip to Halfords and Bob's your Uncle. When it goes really pear shaped, a quick call to UKGSers or a trip to St. Eptoe... no problem. This is a bit more tricky when you are 2500miles away and where DIY is a new concept and even the local BMW dealer can't get basic items without a 6-8 week back order.
So if I'm going to service my own bike, I need to make sure I have everything I need before I start. I'll probably have to bring it from the UK myself - getting it sent will create its own set of nightmares which I don't want to consider (for example, all oils attract 60% "fuel" duty, regardless of whether it is fuel or not).
So please help me with these two lists:
1) Stuff you definitely need to service an 1150 - the usual tools etc. Imagine someone came and nicked half your tool kit and you need to build it up again...
2) Stuff you might need and why. The usual stuff that can go wrong
e.g. Wet and Dry for removing oil filter if it sticks.
I know a lot of this is dotted around this site, but I've not had much joy searching for a comprehensive list like this.
