Took the bike in for it's 18,000 service to CW's in Dorchester. Happy to be informed that they are giving a discount on labour and service parts.

10% off labour and 25% off service parts. :clap

They do get very good reviews and comments on here which I'm happy to concure. Just thought I'd spread the news to anyone who uses them that there is some money to be saved. You'll have to be quick though as the discount runs out at the end of January.

PS

As usual great service from Darren and the gang in the garage. Don't mind the 140 mile round trip when you get great service. :thumb

Personally, I have found CW's to be the worst motorcycle dealer I have ever had the opportuniity to deal with.

Their treatment of me in dealing with the problems I have had with my 1200 has been nothing but contemptuous.

After nearly 3 months I am still waiting to be informed that replacement warranty parts are available for me for fitting and for other issues to be addressed.

The buying process was not pleasant either and I only continued to go ahead because of the great things this site has to say about them.

Unfortnately I made a huge mistake and I would cetainly never recommend this dealer to anyone or buy from them again.

My friend was in the market for a new BMW and came with me when I went for my first service. After experiencing their treatment of me he went and bought a new bike elsewhere.

Enough said.

The following is an extract from an email I sent to BMW earlier this week - they have yet to reply.

When I collected my bike from them I was kept waiting for 1 1/2 hours before their salesman dealt with me. They knew I was coming and I would have thought they would have had sufficient staff available to deal with me. The only other salesperson available spent all his time talking with Sam Manicom who was there promoting his book. No-one even acknowledged my presence to begin with - in fact until an hour had passed. If I had known now how they would treat me I would have walked out and gone to another dealer.

Before collecting the bike I had booked the first service through their salesman (Andrew Harvey) as we were going on a European holiday. I confirmed the date of the service with him when the bike was collected. I completed the running in period sooner that I anticipated and rang CW Motorcycles to see if they could fit the first service in early. They had no record of any such booking for me and they had to 'juggle' their existing services to fit me in on the day I had originally arranged.

I am sure you could understand how I was beginning to feel about this at the time. Had I made the right decision to do buy a bike from this dealer or not?

I took the bike for it's service and was loaned one while this was being done. I was told to return at 2.00pm to collect it. When I returned Mr Studley pointed out to me that they had had to remove my crashbars to do the valve adjustment and I was going to be charged for this. He seemed almost gleeful. The bike was not yet ready though. I waited until it was finally ready - at 3.30pm!! So I had to sit around waiting for 1 1/2 hours once again. On top of the charge made for removing and refitting the crashbars I was also charged for the loan bike - this I was not told about when it was handed over to me and is the first time any dealer has ever charged me for such an item. When you have just spent over £10,000 with someone this smacks of penny pinching, in my opinion.

I had my holiday and you know all about the problems I with the bike on that! I would say that my holiday was not made pleasant because of the noises the bike was making (traced to a defective tyre) and I spent the time worrying about when the bike was going to break down. I feel that in view of these problems I have experienced BMW and CW could greatly restore their reputaions with me by offering to change my tyres - they have already done it for someone else, why not me?

I obviously need to have the warranty work done by a qualified dealer but CW don't appear to be interested.

Did you think of interrupting the salesman's chat with Sam and make your displeasure known that you'd been waiting an age rather than stand around boiling with anger?

Strange, they haven't charged me for that yet and I have H&B's.

He seemed almost gleeful.
Somehow I find that hard to believe that someone could openly gloat about charging a customer extra for something.

I've always agreed an approximate time to return but if there were delays they would call me on my cell so I could stay out and play a bit more

They've never charged me at any time for a loan bike.

I would suggest that you request a meeting with the topdog at CW's and share your experience with them and ask how they would like to resolve it.
I think everyone has good and bad experiences with all the dealers in the UK and you stick with what you feel comfortable with. I've had nothing but good here and unfortunately youhaven't
There again maybe your face just didn't fit :D
Let us now how you get on at CW or where you end up. Hope it doesn't spoil the GS experience.

I had to wait to get Andy's attention when i picked up my 1200,
collecting the bike on a sunny saturday was not a good idea

I guess they could employ more salesmen but what would they do
during the quieter week days ?

I booked the first service at the service desk and had a choice of
loan bikes, i'd had the 1150 serviced a while back so knew about
the £5 fee though only a fiver if your not told about it i can see
where your coming from.

I can't understand about your warranty claim
i'm sure Wally would have sorted it out for you.

Have a word with Dave the one that looks like Grizzly Adams on a bad day,
and i hope you get sorted soon :)

No I didn't - I think that's rude. However, the person in question was none other than the MD of CW's. I would have thought that the person who was heading a multi million pound turnover operation would be more aware that he had customer's waiting and at the very least enquire if he could help.

Strange, they haven't charged me for that yet and I have H&B's.

Well, they did and I have the invoice to prove it.

Somehow I find that hard to believe that someone could openly gloat about charging a customer extra for something.

So are you calling me a liar? My friend who was in the market for a new BMW witnessed it all - he bought one elsewhere.

I've always agreed an approximate time to return but if there were delays they would call me on my cell so I could stay out and play a bit more

They had my mobile number but no call was made - no excuse was even made for the delay.

They've never charged me at any time for a loan bike.

Again, they did and my invoice shows it. Gauloises has also stated that he was charged for this facility - but he knew about it. Don't you think there is a bit of inconsistency here?

Maybe you are right when you say perhaps my face doesn't fit. I am not a high paid earner with a bulging wallet. I paid for my bike with hard earned cash, no finance, no GAP insurance so maybe CW's didn't make a fat load of commission out of me - thus their poor attitude.

As for the GS experience, yes it has tainted it but I don't want to change the bike - it's fantastic. I just now wish, sadly, that I had taken my business elsewhere.

I will be in touch with CW's and let you know how I get on. It is sad that it has come to this but maybe I expected too high a standard of service having paid a premium price for the product but my local Honda dealer gives far superior service than CW's.

I am sure that many will say I am wrong because of CW's good reputation but it is my own personal experience but others witnessed it also. Maybe CW's have just got a bit too bit for their own boots.
