Servicing in the North East

Weeel.....the broch......gaelic...A' Bhruaich...

Fraserborough fishers were known for the blue clothing, particularly their stockings...and became known as blommoganners, subsequently bluetooners.

But I suspect you knew all that....some of my best mates are fae Whitehills and thereabouts so I have received specialist training.

Places in Scotland often display 'odd' provenance....the main shop in Kirrie was Wm Low....remember them?....so readily became Willie Lows, then taken over by Tesco, now known locally as Willie Tesco. Go figure.

An interesting and informative hijack!

Good stuff Gerard, have a look for the book "Collected Poems and Short Stories by Peter Buchan" (https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/search?index=books&linkCode=qs&keywords=9780903065771

Lots of good stuff in there. Is the Clatt Ba' still held in Whitehills, I have no idea why Loch Inchard (58°26'44.6"N 5°01'21.4"W 58.445725, -5.022602) was knows as Claat.
I like Willie Tesco that makes sense, I think I mistakenly refer to the local Morrisons as Willie Lows/Safeway/ qweed kens :)
