My Street Bob is due its 5000 mile service. Now that Birmingham HD is no more, I'm pondering who to use. There's Wolverhampton HD which looks like it's on an awkward-access junction, but much more importantly I've heard some comments that they're not that good. There's Cheltenham HD which I've had no problems with in the past when used for minor odds and sods and would be happy enough to give them a go. But are there better places? Independents?

Cheers for any advice/thoughts.

Wolverhampton HD - awkward junction ? I’ve been there quite a few times. You turn left off the main road , almost immediately right , right after 100yrds again at the T junction and then immediately right into the car park. So unless you are like Zoolander (not an ambi-turner) you should be OK. :thumb

Fair enough. This looked awkward coming from the west, but probably not.

Update...

In the end, I had the 5000 mile service done at Cheltenham Harley for not very good reasons:

1. Wifey fancied an afternoon swanning around Cheltenham
2. I fancied a test ride on a Low Rider ST

Neither thing happened (another story) but I'd booked the service so I went.

The 5000 service looks like an oil/filter change and a whole series of checks. Two hours it took.

£476.59 was the cost.

Price to carry out service and change brake fluid: £300. The rest was consumables and VAT.

I was called about the brake fluid and told that when they tested it, it had 3% moisture content and they recommended changing it. Funnily enough, when I was back in the shop, another bloke was being told they'd tested his brake fluid and it had 3% moisture content and they recommended changing it. What a coincidence!

Maybe the cost is the cost these days, but Second City Customs will be being checked out for the 10000 mile service

I would ask them a simple question?

As Harleys use Dot 5 for Brake fluid which is silicon based and non hygroscopic how did they manage to measure the 3% water content?

Dot 5 is Hydrophobic - and does not absorb water.

Interesting..........I was under the impression that Dot 5 was unsuitable for vehicles with ABS........:nenau

My RK Special uses Dot 4DOT 4.jpg

Ah yes - fair point - corrected (most of my Harley’s over the years are pre ABS)

Wasn’t thinking it through!!
