Servo ABS Bleed Funnel

Hi,

Does anyone know of a UK supplier of the funnel required to bleed the wheel circuits of an 07 servo ABS GSA?

I know I could make my own but I'd rather not drip brake fluid down into the nether regions of the bike if I can get something pukka to do the job.

The only one I can find on the web is from Beemerboneyard in America - if there's no UK suppler I'll get it from them.

I had an old abs pump so I drilled out one of the caps and pushed a funnel in and hot glued it as well, proper job:thumby:
 
Did the UK have the servo-ABS in 07? They ended in 06 in the US.

One way to do it is to unplug the vent line and plug in a length of hose stuck in a brake fluid container. It will draw it in. I've done it that way when no funnel was available.

Thanks for the link to the 'how to do it' post, I've found some YouTube videos as well.

I didn't think it had a servo but my shiny new GS-911 tells me that I can test it so I did and there's something whirring away in the bowels of the bike.

I'll get the tank off and make sure then I know what I'm up against.

Postage on the funnel from beemerboneyard put the total price to over £50! - for a funnel? - if I do need it I'm going to bodge something up.

You do not need a funnel. The only people who need a funnel are those whose mouth move while reading or can't control their own saliva.

I use a beaker and just pour the brake fluid in at the same speed as the level goes down.
Rear brake you use your foot on the brake lever to operate and control the flow while pouring. Front brake use one hand to pull the lever and the other to pour the fluid.

Whenever i read servo brake "how to's" I can't believe the amount of bollox, complexity and cost that gets introduced on such a simple task as pouring fluid .

So you are saying that the 07 in the UK has the servo-ABS?

I was answering the OP's question "Does anyone know of a UK supplier of the funnel required to bleed the wheel circuits of an 07 SERVO ABS GSA? " . So i'm not stating anything about what he may or may not have, just answering his question.



A 2007 bike in the uk could be either a servo or the later non servo abs as it was the change over year where both were available, also it could be a 2006 registered in 2007.
 
OK, thanks everybody.

I'm researching this job before I take it on in July when the bike needs its next service.

Steptoe has convinced me that I don't need a funnel - I did wonder why it seemed to need an extra 'head' of brake fluid to do the bleed.

Jim Von B has, almost, convinced me that I don't have a servo but I'll find out for sure when I tank the tank off - either way I've got the info to do the job.

No need to remove the tank... turn on the ignition and apply brake, if it's a servo you'll hear the high pitch whine of the servo motor.
The other option it to push the bike with the ignition off and apply the front brake. If it stops you don't have servo brakes, if it's hard to stop you do have servo brakes :D

Not as obvious. I could easily stop my servo-ABS bike pushing it with little force.

Anyway that's the brake fluid change considerably simplified!

Because, even though you do not have what is traditionally known as Servo-ABS, your ABS does have a servo that is activated when the ABS is activated. The GS911 is asking if you want to cycle your ABS! This is done during a brake service to make sure all the fluid is changed.

So now you know.
