Yup, it's another one of those :banghead:

I'm just about to start removing the servo on my 2003 GSA as the dashboard has lit up like Graham Norton's Christmas tree and most of the brakes have gone AWOL. I've no real concerns doing the spannering to reconnect the brake lines, it's that new fangled electric stuff that scares the bejesus out of me.

I've worked my way through the No Cost Servo Removal post, which was brilliant, but I caught a glimpse of a post .. somewhere on here .... where it's mentioned that you don't actually have to cut any wires at all, simply leave everything thing in place and plugged in to the ECU unit on the side of the pump which means that should anyone want to put the blasted thing back in there's no issues and more importantly I don't have to play with electrics :augie

That seems far, far too easy so I'm guessing I've completely misunderstood .... a not an entirely uncommon situation.

Any chance someone can explain it to me in words not exceeding one syllable, preferably with pretty primary colour pictures?

I can't find the thread at the moment as I'm at work but basically you have to undo the tamper proof torx screws on the unit and unplug the connectors that come through from the servo unit so that you are then left with the PCB and you just plug the large multi pin plug back into this!
The connection will be left open to the atmosphere after this so you might want to make up some sort of backing plate to seal it off.
Someone will probably be along with the how to link shortly...

That sounds brilliant, thanks for the info! I think even I might be able to manage that. Does that sort out the brake lights and extinguish the fairy lights on the dash or is that hoping too much!

Brake light will work as normal but you will have to remove 1 bulb from the ABS warning light on the clocks and also possibly the ABS relay in the fuse box I think!

No problem, been there myself not so long ago and it's something you want to get right :thumb

As above.

You can remove the unwanted part of the unit, but then you will need to fabricate a back plate for it. the alternative is split the unit, disconect the brains from the unit and screw it all back in to place. Whichever way you choose, you will still need to bypass the brake lines. I opted for removal and made a waterproof cover for the back of the brains.

To extinguish the idiot lights it's a bulb removal and a relay removal, brake light works as it should if brain left intact.

I'm getting rid of mine shortly. I really hate the servo brakes especially as my last 1150GSA was ABS only and so much nicer to ride. I like the idea of making it easily to reinstate if I ever sell the bike and the new buyer wants it back to standard.
It is an SE after all and one of the best long term investments a man could ever make......:augie:rolleyes::D

PS thanks for the advice Flipfly and others :thumb2
