Hi guys just a quick one. I've just re wired the relay for the servoectomy and need to know do I have to cut the abs plug off completely or can i tape it up out the way? Sat here looking at it wondering whether to leave it in situ? Cheers 😊

Sounds like you have cut wires already So If it were me I would just find a couple of those wee packets of silica gel and thrown them in a good quality sandwich bag and tape it up and cable tie to something out of the way

Sorry to say but you've done it the hard way. Best way is to remove the pump and leave the electronics on the bike. That way the brake lights work as normal and no chopping of the original wiring. Personally I'd leave the plug alone now you've gone and fecked the job, cutting the plug may only make it worse.

Fecked the job? I've done exactly what everyone else seems to have done apart from chop the plug off completely? Went by the standard servoectomy instructions that everyone had guided me to? How's that wrong then ?

The very very simple way is to undo the Ecu at the end of the abs/servo unit (4 screws) and leave it plugged in - that's all you have to do involving the electrics :D

I actually removed my pump and lines and sealed the electric box with a homemade plastic back, it did take an extra 1/2 an hour but no wires were cut as you say.

I feel for you.... As a new tosser I went out on my 2003 1150GS on Saturday (only 6k on the clock and in my ownership for only a few months) and suffered brake failure - luckily I was only pottering about and saw the lights come on (top light flashing and bottom light on solid). Things were definitely not right and after turning for home and testing the brakes every little while they finally gave up the ghost with next to zero braking which was not a pleasant experience!

I have spent the last couple of hours researching how to perform a servoectomy as I consider myself capable of doing such a task (with the correct instructions) and had assumed that the DaveH method was the way to go - but now I'm thinking possibly not! I found a post by Bandytale on the BM Bikes website that said he has a pictorial on exactly how to do this and see that he has posted on here, but not for months. Does anyone have a copy of his instructions please?

Failing that does anyone please have at their disposal a definitive (idiots) guide on how to do this properly, written in plain language preferably with photo's, or if not can some one please point me in the direction of anyone in Kent or the surrounding area who can maybe perform this for me at a half sensible price please? assuming I have to pay someone to do this, any idea on roughly what it might cost?

I think you'll find it on this thread - look at the first post and then take into account Flipfly's advice: "Best way is to remove the pump and leave the electronics on the bike. That way the brake lights work as normal and no chopping of the original wiring". :nenau

do you guys know if this servoectomy will work on a r1200 CL from 2004? (these have the IABS Servo that are different to 2000 to 2003 models
