A mate of mine has a 10 plate GSA and has psi on his tyre pressure gauge but having just had my 16 plate TE GS, the techs tell me mine can't be changed from bar to psi.

Can anyone shed any light on this, I thought if the techs say it can't be done it can't be, but said mates GSA has psi.

Some dealers really are shit. It can be changed on the computer.

On my XR, you can change all the units yourself on the computer, which makes much more sense.:thumb

Dealers can do it using the computer. Found this across the pond. Using the BMW GT1 diagnostics and programming equipment:

connect diagnosis cable
insert data
Choose code instrumentation and CIP programming
Model selection
select continue
select program selection
select software
control unit selection
select no
select change
select CKM
select BAR or KPS or PSI
confirm
SET
that's it. :thumb

The smart arse answer would be just to use the Nav 5 to monitor the pressures. With that, you can change the units to metric if you go abroad and by default they show PSI.

Of course, I appreciate that not everybody has one.

If there's one thing I hope they change on the next major update of the GS it's the clocks.

Does it really make all that much difference, once the pressures are set and checked in psi(I as do), then all I am looking for on the readout is for any change. Of course the computer will tell you of any large changes via the dash. :nenau

Actually I think the tyre pressures on the Nav 5 are shown in psi only if you choose miles and bars only if you choose km which I find frustrating because I want miles and bars. Perversely you get bars on the instrument display with miles

Had my GSA 6000 service today and asked to have mine changed to PSI and it's done

The dealer can also change the clock to a 24hr format if you prefer and I think also the temp from centigrade to Fahrenheit
