It's certainly 'a look'

I think they look good on a standard 1200. They match the paintjob and the lines of the bike well :thumb .

The problem is we tend to like the 'global traveller' look in the GS community and this is more 'city commuter' :ymca .

At least you'll be able to carry spare needles and patterns securely now :D :ymca :D

Costs

I think it looks OK. At least they don't look like pizza delivery boxes, not rufty tufty enough for lots of people though. Big question is how much did they cost? Slightly cheaper than the OEM I would think. Are the fixing rails Givi also? Do they remove easily?

The setup (panniers) cost £350 including the Givi fitting rails - They remove in a flash.

Thinking

OK, so here's my logic behind them. I want a bike I can tour with. The whole setup is significantly cheaper than the shite sold as originals that have such dramatically crap capacity.

It's not the prettiest thing on earth, but it certainly has some great stowage capability.

I don't pretend to need ally boxes - Most of those I know who have them don't need them either, they just like to think that they will at some stage in the future.

For those that don't like panniers or topboxes - why buy a tourer? If you want a plastic pellet then go buy a Jap bike. :P :P

Still, got some debate going .. . . . . :) :) :) :)

They don't look hardcore...but they serve a purpose and at price
thank god they can be taken off when you don't need them

i think system panniers look crap too :D and i have a set

why worry

Load um up and bugger off, IMO kit strapped on a bike never looks good, but thats not the point.Never ask people what they think, does it do the job ?
and will you have more fun.If someone wants to slag you off over your panniers dont hang around to listen.

But we all love to talk Bike

All panniers look pants by definition - either plastic tupperware, or dodgy Al ones that generally look like they have been knocked up in a GCSE metalwork class.

They look fine, worse then some mebbe, better than many certainly. They are there to do a job, so why spend more to pretend to be some hard-core inter-continental voyager, when in fact most people never get further then the next country on the same land mass at the very most.

Agreement .. . . .

the pt cruser looks s..t also, can we have a vote on that?
:D :D :D

I TOTALLY agree, it's an absolute piece of poo.

Try convincing the wife of that though. . .. She's completely in love with it.

I'm preparing the application to have her committed. . .. . . .

Only one word for those - why.

"It's really funky" she says. . . . . . .

(It's also got the Mercedes 2.2 Turbo Diesel engine so at least you can speed away from the pointing and sniggering :D :D :D )

Toady my friend, surely if you have lashed out a wallet lightening £350 then it is a moot point cos you're gonna keep em aren't you.....? well aren't you? :nenau If they do the job you want them to do and you like em then just get on with it and ignore the naysayers...after all opinions are like ar*seholes - everybody has one. As someone has already said any paniniers spoil the line of a bike but at times they are a painful necessity.

Function / Form

Or Form over Function !
If i could have a design that was asthetically pleasing / Matched the
lines contours of the Bike , held your Luggage safe/ secure / dry ,
I would pay handsomely .
It may / May not look good .
The Big question is , Does it work !
Does it still work after you drop the bike on it !
Are you happy with it .

You need an escort.......

It’s a shame they don’t contour around the exhaust, it may loose a bit of total storage but it keeps the total width down. They do seem a tad wide overall but at £350 they were a cheap way of lugging a lot of kit if a little ugly. Heck I'm being as nice as I can, good design is normally as rip off but we still love it.

Ooooh....errrrr!

Rear wheel looks small in comparison - still, you could get a spare wheel in there couldn't you?

It doesn't matter what other people think...tee hee...does it?

Still - the one big plus about this post is that when you turn up for a ride out, everyone will at least be forewarned - and should hopefully be past saying, "What the f**k?"

All tongue in cheek. As for me I wouldn't have chosen them - simply cos I'm going for the pretentious alu panniers - even if it's only for nipping down to the shops. :clap

Trying to think of something nice to say about them..... but can't!

So won't say anything... sorry :ymca
