Well it seems I'm the only one who doesn't like fog cities then?

Tried them on both my shoei and schuberth, and found they worked for about a month, then stopped as the seal with the visor broke.

Fog city..

Well although I've just bought one I don't know whether I like it yet. Easy to fit though.

I did notice when reading the instructions that they are not recommended for wearing at night which sort of goes along with Steve Peake's post a bit earlier. Anyone else had the same problems?

The ' shouldn't fog in the day but might not be able to see at night' nose.

Not had a problem with mine (regarding distortion/dazzle at night) but they do seem to fit some helmets better than others. On my Arai Quantum F it fits a treat and has performed faultlessly. On a Suomy Gunwind I had to rip it out and chuck it away within days. Getting a perfect fit and seal is paramount.

There is no doubt the secret is in the initial fitting of it and though I have become quite proficient at fitting them I always take the helmet to the shop and get them to fit it for me prior to handing over my hard-earned - that way if they screw it up they start again (their risk not mine :D )

Trying to re-apply after an initial attempt always (in my experience) shortens the life span considerably. Also following the instructions to the letter helps too - like not using the helmet after inital install but letting it 'settle' overnight etc.

The bit about not recommended for use at night though I think is an American way of saying additional layers increases problems with light refraction, as do wearing spectacles, scratched visors, dirty visors - but no more so in my book.

They are just covering their arses. As are McDonalds when they print on the outside of a coffee cup - 'warning contents may be hot' fer crissakes!!!

Sure one the main negative point is the light refraction thing but I don't wear glasses so I don't suffer unduly and its far outweighed by being able to see on a cold day without lifting the very thing which is there to protect me from the elements. The alternatives, gloop, bob heath, fairy liquid all require far more effort than I'm prepared to accept in this instance.

So has no-one tried the new UVEX helmet complete with double skinned (guaranteed fogless) visor ?

'tis all the info I have at the moment. I was initially just curious because BMW had this double glazed visor (ala UVEX) and UVEX actually make the BMW F650 CS sunglasses. So I wondered if the BMW visor was made by UVEX etc etc.

I am off to have a look at one, as soon as one of the listed stockists answers the phone...

Let us know how you get on Dave.

Wonder if they are the same as the BMW one I mentioned above with the problems?

One of the problems I had was you got a double reflection at night.

Speaking to some other bikers, they all seem to be very pro the Uvex Wing, which comes with a a double glazed visor. Everyone who has one seems to be raving about them, including a bloke who did a 700 mile ride in the rain to scotland, no misting up...

light sensitive visors

i use a proline one, it dosen`t totaly darken but i haven`t needed sun glasses ever since i bought it from pidcocks(bmw dealer) and only £18  ;)
