This ride will be a green lane version of the road ride that I lead for 26 members of the BMW owners Club last year. I can make it a joint road and green lane ride, if there are any volunteers to lead road sections, for those who do not want to get muddy

I only wish to take five at a time on the green lane sections and any road riders with gps could meet us at our exit points.

This is a ride, ending early/mid afternoon with long green lane sections

This ride is novice capable on a GS with dual purpose tyres (although I ride with TKC80's cos I like them ).
The ride will be cancelled if weather conditions make it unsuitable for safety or trail damage reasons
Legal bit:You may join me by following and it is not a club ride and you ride at your own risks and your own insurance
I must request that you honour the etiquette of The TRF code of Conduct

This ride will start, with breakfast at The Salt Cellar, Shaftesbury, British National Grid ST 86257 22956 09.30am
top of Gold Hill lay by

Route will be Zig Zag Hill, around Madonna and Guy Ritchie's old place, Shaftesbury Drove, Stonehenge Car Park.I will then go across the plains, depending on which flags are flying and terminate the ride at Market Lavington

We could find a pub for a late lunch, but I'd suggest bring sandwiches at the early planning stage

Date provisionally Sunday 17th April if the weather is good.

Please put your names down if keen :

You won't get your GS onto a bike carrier, me thinks :D

Awe... now you give me a prediicament. Yes a KTM300 is a fabulous offroad bike, but this is posted as a GS ride and the route is designed so that people can get a feel of what they can do and where they can go on their GS's.
In otherwords, ride to the venue and then tackle some lovely trails and ride home again afterwards. It is not pitched at pro's with trailers or vans. This is too easy and non challenging for a KTM300
I hope you understand what I mean with the title

This sounds perfect for me, I've done a bit of off road with my old KTM 640 but as I only bought the GSA in October I haven't had the chance yet to do any tracks etc.

I have no off road experiance other than bumping across muddy fields to a campsite! :D

Am interested as a learningy thing, if its steady and not too mad! (what a wuss!!:blast:D)

Be good also to meet up with people in the know about trail riding, where's and not where's, do's and don'ts...... etc

PS I on a F800GS

Hi

I have recently returned to 1200GSA ownership and actually joined the TRF in the last few weeks looking for some green lanes around Oxfordshire- possibly on a lighter bike :)

I would like to come along on this trip if possible! I have some off road experience and attended a number of off road training days. However my experience is limited.. especially with the GSA beast..

Do put your names down as reserves though in case anybody drops out, because April is some time away yet. Lets see if people enjoy this one before I am presumptions enough to run another ride :D

If your starting at Shaftsbury you are right at the start of the 13 mile BOAT that runs from Donhead st Andrew over to Salisbury. A good one for GS's.

Actually, the last time i checked there was a choice of 2!

These are very big bike friendly tracks. you'll all have a great ride :D

Yes Nathan,
Here is a vid that I made last year, whilst rehearsing this ride for the BMW owners club.
Events, which I will not go in to, prevented me from taking anyone offroad at the actual event, but five guys will be doing this route in April.:thumb
You star at the end of the vid :D
