I posted this in response to a thread elsewhere on the forum but frankly, this is where it belongs... so, sorry to re-post but, does anyone have experience of Shark Openline helmets?

I fancy a flip-front helmet for a change - when originally tested the Openline got SHARP 3-star rating, the front stayed latched in 97% of test impacts, and they're reasonably priced.

My final decision will be determined by how well they fit my head but I'll strike them from the pre-qualifier list if, in example, they leak like a sieve, fog at the slightest hit of moisture in the air, require the neck of a gorilla to support whilst wearing or howl like a banshee whilst used above jogging pace...

My existing AGV Stealth (closed face) is about 5 years old now and is tiring fast... also, the visor leaks in heavy rain, and, it's not that quiet but on the plus side, it's well ventillated and not very heavy.

Shark non flip

I know you asked about flip front, but my mate just purchased a regular shark & rode it in some pretty bad weather, rain, snow & hail, the pin lock stopped 99% of misting, worst thing was the water on the outside of visor icing up, & its warm & comfortable.
Worst part for me the padding squashes my cheeks, not my ass... & it's not as quiet as my old schuberth S1 pro..

Now, I'm guessing the flip has been made with as much attention to detail.. Correct me if I'm wrong if u buy one..

But let us know..

Purchased the Shark Openline from Woodford Motorcycles (excellent dealership - albeit they're Honda or Yamaha dealers... really nice people - I've not been in there for maybe 18 months and yet treated like a frequent customer).

It turns out the Shark Openline is a good fit for me.

Despite my intention of buying one in white, which could have been ordered in, would I be interested in one in silver/grey - apparently not a popular colour so would I be interested in a £20 discount? £139.99 and a soft draw-string Shark bag thrown in? :blagblah

Much banter later, I walk away with said silver/grey lid.

The "plus" points - reasonable ventilation (didn't fog in last week's unseasonably cold and rainy weather); seems not to leak (see previous weather comment); reasonably quiet - certainly more quiet than my AGV Stealth fixed closed face lid; weight is 1,750gm which is OK for me; the built-in tinted retractable sun-visor is easy to operate; the flip-front unlock operation is easy, even with gloves; the chin-vent and top-vent are easy and positive in operation, even with gloves; 5 year warranty.

The "minus" points - well, it's a metallic grey (despite Shark describing it as Silver)... and so far, that's about it.

Would I recommend one - so far, yes, if it fits you. :thumby:
