When people use sheepskin over the normal seat, is it the normal sheepskin rug or more bike specific?
Thanks

Cut and Ikea £20 sheepskin to fit and use bungee cord to secure. Works a treat.

Sorry if this is a silly question but why is it a must in the heat?

The sheepskin stops you sweating and sticking to the seat. Trust me. It makes a huge difference.
My original seat cover was made to fit the 1150. However with a small modification it fits my 1200 perfect.
You can make your own or buy a universal one. but Alaska leather make one purposely to fit a particular bike. The biggest question. Or thing that puts most people off is if it gets wet. No problem. Click the quick release buckles. Shake vigorously. Refit.
You dont need no.big dollar seat or air cushions. Buttpads are the way to go ! :thumb

I got my one from the local Sunday afternoon tea’s, £7.00 for a sheepskin dog bed, stitched on a couple of elastic webbing straps, perfect, as has been said cool in summer warm in winter no aches or pains better than any expensive seat.

Interesting. Wonder if it helps with heat in London on the commute. Think I'd have to take the suspension off auto and leave it on low as I'm borderline as is for footing.

Another vote for Lambland.

It really doesn't add height at all BTW.

Also, no need for elastic etc, pop the front between the seat and tank and it'll nip it up enough to be secure.

I have fitted to the 1250gs te my old red stripe "airhawk" (on my Yamaha fjr 1300 for 3 years) not pretty but stops numb bum..............as you age you tend to have less meat in the areas you need it and more in the areas you don't ha ha ! not cheap but works for me.The secret is only have atmospheric pressure in it or it feels like you are falling off.

This is my £7.00 dog bed, it compresses quite a bit so does not affect the height that much , I have a 32” inside leg and manage.

Here's mine. Was originally for my 1150. It makes such a difference on long hauls. Would'nt be without it. Its hardly noticeable. Manufactured by Alaskan leather.

mine was a quid off a car boot - made a velcro and elastic band for around the seats width = and then stitched a strip of "opposite" velcro to the underside of sheepskin. Rip it off at night roll it up and use as a pillow/or a hat if its cold:D:D:D
