Well it looks ridiculous but in anticipation of a trip to Chimay end of July stopping only to prevent my feet getting wet I thought I'd try one of these. My backside is generally in agony after only an hour in the seat. :nenau

Brought from lambland.co.uk after seeing several recommendations on here. Some people suggested they were a bit small but I find the size pretty much spot on for the LC seat.

Off for a bimble through the Peak District tomorrow so I'll see how it goes. If this is a none starter it'll be an Airhawk 2 next...maybe wrapped in sheepskin!

...and I promise I didn't nick it from our dog.

I use one and it works great for me ... However I changed from a 13 LC to 14LC Adv and the seat on that is a lot more comfy.

Alaska Leather

Hi,
I've just come back from a trip to morocco, and from a recommendation at a talk which took place at Balderstons, Peterborough I bought an Alaska Leather which are made for your bike (www.alaskaleatheronline.com) and I couldn't believe the difference. I reckon you can ride for twice as long using one.
Maybe not the best looking things but very comfortable for long trips.
cheers

I got one last week and used it over the weekend, did two stints of about 100 miles each and didn't notice a huge improvement, so the jury is still out as far as I'm concerned.

I too have recently purchased one from lambland, I went for the larger size that also covers the pillion seat. I can't tell any difference with it on, even when folded up double. It now lives on the bedroom floor at the side of the bed. Maybe Ill try the Airhawk next, or an alaskaleather?

Fleeces are recommended for high mileage iron butts.... And to enhance 'the look'. You can't have one without the other, it seems.

Well after a 200 mile run through the Peaks it was obvious after about 50 miles that the sheepskin wasn't go to stop the discomfort. In comparison to a similar run I did earlier in the year the discomfort level reached a less painful point and never got any worse, however I may put that down to the recent increase in cycling though.

Either way I'm still well short of being able to do these long days in the saddle people talk of. I'll see if I can pick up an Airhawk 2 on the cheap.

As an aside I can also confirm:

1. Snake Pass is a little overrated but Ladybower reservoir is impressive. Watch for the camera van sat on the bridge.
2. The Deli in the village of Hope does great sandwiches.
3. I need to find out what off-road activity goes on around Hope - lots of muddy bikes.
4. Castleton was insanely busy.
5. Ramblers hate anything with an engine even when the vehicle is on the road and nowhere near the green stuff!
6. My new best friend is a feisty chicken who joined me from nowhere whilst I was sat next to the bike eating lunch.

My R100GS-PD has a single seat, reupholstered with MemoryFoam, and still I get paralysing cramp at the back of my right thigh when getting off the bike. I dug out my old sheepskin cover I last used on my 17,000 mile trip across the US six years ago and these last few days rode to Castle Donington and back in comfort, 310 miles in total. Tomorrow 367 miles to Meppen in Germany, next day a further 463 miles to Blockhus in Denmark.

I get it that's it's comfy. But I just can't fit my nice new shinny bike with a great big hairy bush!

No wonder the pooch looks worried, that cover looks more like Roy Orbisons wig than any sheep i have ever seen!:D
Hope it works for you. I got a offcut from a sheepskin coat shop and it works a treat.

I just went and bought a Kahedo seat from Germany as I had one on my GSA prior to the LC, I tried the lambland option but made the mistake of buying a white one and took on the appearance of some form of Welsh sexual predator. The Kahedo has bedded in nicely, no numb bum over a full tank range (How can you say all day comfortable, do you tow a fuel bowser so you never need to stop?) and a very large saving over touratwat UK prices
