I was a big fan of Metzeler tyres..... until now!
I have equiped my GS WC with Tourance Next Tyres.
I noticed that the front tyre after about 2500 km roden lost almost half a grip (in dry conditions)!
The tyre slides a lot especialy at right corners, so sadly I lost all the confidence in riding with it. The DOT is 2215 (made in Germany).

In the past I changed 3 sets of T.Next tyres with no problems even after 10.000 km roden. Same with EXP tyres.
I also use Metzelers on my Husqvarna supermoto bike - they are performig great!

Anyone else with the same experience?

I ride Michelin Pilot Road 4 Trail/GT

Excellent wear and grip especially in the wet

Shite off road though

Yes agree 1000% had a set and almost ruined my tour . Only use Conti Trail Attacks as brilliant .
Annakke 111 not mutch better than the Next.

i have cont trail attack 2's on mine. Great in dry conditions, horrendous in wet or rain. Dash constantly lit up of fresh tar or accelerating, cant wait to get them off and go back to noisy anakee 3's.

I had the Annakke 111 slide like a bugger on some roads under normal riding and took them off after 500 miles as could not trust them .Even when damp, the Contis have not had any real issues unless pushed a bit far for the conditions. , again personal choice.

I don't ride much in the rain as I ride off road when wet .

So, to clarify, this is your fourth set, and the others were all fine? Is the tire also wearing prematurely? Is it possible you have a sticky caliper, or the tire was contaminated with something?

I'm on my third set on my GS, and also count a 4th where I rode >2500km on a rental bike with a new set. I've yet to experience any premature loss of grip or wear. They grip well enough to ride track days.

However, I have a friend who is also running them, and he has a front tire that seems to be wearing prematurely, to the point where it didn't last 3k miles. So maybe there is some inconsistency in manufacturing.

It is disconcerting when this type of thing happens, used to run Continental Trails Attacks on my 1150 and then on my 1200gsa tc but ended up with a duff front one that caused all sorts of problems, the replacement was fine but after that I went over to Dunlop TR91's .
On the WC I lost confidence with the Anakee III's after the first rear was written off by a puncture after less than 300 miles and its replacement lasted 700 miles before a similar fate. Couple of months later on 2 occasions in the wet whilst not under braking on fairly gentle Alpine bends the front end slipped away and that was any confidence in Anakee III's gone.
The replacements were Pilot Road 4 Trails and to be honest the front is fine but the rear is about shot after 4500 miles .
Looks like it is back to Dunlops again

I'm on continental TKC 70 on my GSA fantastic in wet/dry/trails can't recommend them enough

Yes, it is the 4th set now. Previos three with no problems, the last front tyre is realy "shitty". About 2k km roden with no probs, now a disaster! I lost all the confidence in riding with it.
About the sticky caliper or contamination of the tyre.... I think not.

My view would be why risk replacing a duff tyre with an identical tyre that may or may not have problems. Plenty of other recommended and decent makes out there , so try something different .

I am looking at Pirelli Scorpion Trail 2!
Opinions?

Try the Avon Trailriders they are excellent wet or dry, I've had the Next and the Anakee both not good in the wet.

There is no consistency in people's reports and reviews ...its odd.

For example ; Stick and his "slippery" Anakee3's (I love mine, as does unicycle above (R1200GS), aside the noise ...)

The Pirelli Scorpion (F800GS standard tyre when new) ...that some posters above like...
I hated the one's I owned, so many twitches/slides I really thought they would kill me.

According to the other forum (ADV rider) the most trusted tyre is probably "Continental" ... which hardly ever gets a "like" on here. Baffles me how everyone can have suck different views on "grip".

The lack of consistency is due to how you feel , how you ride , what you expect from a tyre.
Some may wish to get 5000 miles plus from tyres , thus they will be hard compound , and may accept a worn tyre for many miles .
Others including myself , don't care about mileage , so sub 3000 miles from a set is fine . that's why I like the contis , I wear a front before my rear and happily change after said mileage.
We all have different views and ideas , that why this world is so good , if we all felt the same we would be a bunch of real Tossers.:bounce1:bounce1

On the ferry now, will be putting a couple of thousand k's on them in the coming week.

I must admit to being baffled at the amount of different opinions of the same tyres on the same bikes but I guess I'd go along with Stick when he says it's due to how you feel, how you ride etc.

Myself and a couple of friends all had LC's that came with Anakee 3's and we all hated them. Slipping in the wet, felt horrible on white lines etc. Yet some people rave about them.

Personally I'm loving the TKC 70 but we're all different!
