Evening folks,
I bought a Shoei GT air I have a givi airflow screen.

Problem is It doesn't matter where I put the screen i get a vibration in the helmet from about 50mph not major but enough to piss me orf.

Riding at different speeds I can't seem to find the spot that is causing the vibration.

Has anybody had this? Can anybody help?

Thanks in advance for your help

I also have a Shoei GT Air and the only thing that worked for me was an MRA Lip clipped to the top of the standard GSA screen. I tried a number of other screens and suffered buffeting from all - including the Airflow.
The lip is perfect.

Thanks was it buffering or this weird vibration?

I must admit I think the GT Air is one of the worst helmets I have ever owned for noise and turbulence its not a patch on the ancient Arai I retired - If only Arai did the internal sun visor :-(

I had put a lot of research into buying one. Replacing my tourx nae the cheapest and have to say disappointing

I absalutly love my gt air quiet comfortable perfect with the intercom I could not ask for better will be looking to get another one soon

I also love my GT Air, but recommend the MRA Vario to smooth air flow

+1
I hated mine

Arai do the Pro shield visor which is very good

Really? I've tried about 10 different helmets (Arais, Schuberths, other models of Shoei), and the GT Air is by far the best helmet I've ever had. Extremely comfortable for 12 hour days on the bike, drop down visor, ZERO buffeting at speeds up to 160mph, and brilliant venting.

Like the helmet very quiet with foam ear plugs. I just need this irritating vibration gone.

How tall are you? What bike do you have?

2008 1200 gs
Im about 180cm

From buying the bike I've had the wunderlik tall and wide screen fitted so swopped to the give airflow on the basis how well everybody said it was!

The first thing I would do is prove the fault with the helmet, I think you have the dreaded buffeting but proving it is easy - first, whip off the visor and pull the guts out and check the screws and re-fit.
Then completely remove the screen and go for a ride, if you don't get the issue it's buffeting, if you still get the vibration it's the helmet.

thanks oddshapedballs will do.

I did remove the upper part of the screen then ran the bike I had to have the visor completely closed as the visor vibrated, with the full screen on the vibration is slightly less with visor closed.

Yip, and my complaints are mainly directed at the top vent.

Its very noisy and sensitive to directional changes on both sports bikes and the GS, ventilation is good around top and rear but i did like the eye brow vents on the Arai to give ventilation to the face.
The noise is so bad (IMO) that I actually returned the helmet for inspection as I thought the vent was not correctly fitted, depending on how finances go I will see if I can pick up a replacement during the winter.

Wow, you must have had a duff one then, as mine is helmet nirvana!:D

I seem to get a bit of head shake with the neotec So tried the GT I found it small for a medium (I take medium in shoei) and the large too big, so instead brought the new xspirit 3 and this is superb lid with zero buffeting and head shake due to the clever spoilers/wings but top ventilation ain't as good but ok and it even has the internal cutout moulds for speakers for comms. But it ain't a cheap lid.

Just a wee update.
Just back from Europe.

Standard screen, oversized winglets, low seat.

I think I've found the problem, standing up the helmet is great no noise no vibration, sitting down it is clearly turbulence that is the issue.

getting there!
