Shoei Hornet v Shoei Hornet Adventure?

Under £300 at wheelup.it in Italy
Bought my Shoei GT Air from them. Good to deal with and only a few days for delivery.

Yep, £310 incl delivery, so not a bad discount. I can get it for £340 from a mate at infinity, plus I've got a £20 voucher, so I'll probably get it from him.:thumb

I've had the old version since late 2008 and the new ADV version since sept last year.

The peak is much better on the new one

But the old one fits me like a glove and new one (same size) still feels snug and tight enough on the forhead for me to think would this soil a long trip.

The new one for some reason gives my left ear a tweak when I remove it, so much so that my left ears has thickened a little so my new helmet sits unused.

When I did use it I found it very noisy compared to my Schuberth J1 and had a lot of thrumming partially solved by lowering the screen on my GSA, now my ear has recovered (no more pain but still thicker) I might start using it again but for motorway use ear plugs are a must.

I bought it to replace my J1 but the J1 is what I wear every day.

Also the Shoei gives me a draft up the back of the kneck, the J1 does not...

That said if I'm going out with the intention to let the red mist have a say I wear the Shoei as my bounce does feel safer in side that

Yep I did - good helmet & fits me better than my old TourX

Paid a bit less than you've been offered though & that was delivered last summer

Gloss Black though & less than £300 ;)

Well that was a short love affair - 11 months

The helmet had a visor problem, which flexed too much and meant it wouldn't always come down 'square' every time - although to be frank it was mainly fine

Main problem I have had is that the visor when fitted with a Pinlock has caught the crown of the helmet above the top aperture seal - which has caused the paint to become scratched (under the peak, go figure) and also means that the top 1-2cm of the visor has become crazed with minute scratches which are a complete ballache in bright sun or car lights......

I have only worn the helmet 10 times for short periods as I favour my Netoec for trips or my ratty TourX2 most of the time

Fed up I returned it to the supplier today and will exchange for a new TourX, next week

I'm back to a new Tour X4.....nothing wrong with the Hornet, but the Arai just fits me better and the quality is a tad higher. Still a pain in the arse changing visors tho'.

Good news, I think I'll prefer the Arai

Hornet not for me
