After a significant 'off' 3 1/2 years ago, I'm possibly about ready to step back onto a bike.

My Shoei flip front lid saved my life, still ended up with a significant brain bleed though, so that's not viable to ever see my head again, certainly not on the move.

I've a hankering for a J Cruise 3, but by God they're expensive nowadays.. I suppose you get what you pay for?

I'll likely be going for a Honda ADV350 scooter to get back on the road, other significant injuries mean my GSA is likely too heavy for me.

So, people's thoughts good and bad re the J Cruise 3?

Roger.

Great choice with the ADV350 (y)

For the lid I’d still be looking at a flip front or full face, no more expensive than a piss pot and I wouldn’t want to stick my face into the road without a chin bar

What about the Schuberth J2 instead - like a J Cruise but with a removable slim chin bar.

Chap with the Cap likes it...
Had a look at that recently. I almost snapped that piece of plastic in half. It’s not reinforced and will be 0 protection. And is fcking huge even in size S.

Depends on your risk tolerance. Speed is exactly the same on a scooter as on a bike. Been through this thought process, I like the J Cruise. I also own a Neotec 2 and a Neotec 3. Neotec 2 is near retirement.

When I ride my bike or TMax, I just flip the front if in town and clip it down when I want and leave the 30s.

I can't get away from the using my chin as a brake if I have an off and yes I probably shouldn't ride in town with the flip up :)

I had a J Cruise 1 and 2 .

Bought this Shark end of 2025 and it’s brilliant . Not quite Shoei quality but 1/3 the price

Depending on the weather , might take it on my Pyrenees trip in ten days . If not then the Shark OXO flip , another great helmet .

That's a shame. I had a J1 back in the day. Brilliant bit of kit...
Had a different chin system, it was metal with a plastic cover. It was quite solid if I remember correctly.
Last year in Europe I took off the chin piece off the BMW System 7 Evo and used it as an open face. It was also made it 1/3 lighter. I think only the 7 has this option. I see on the new 8 you no longer can take the chin piece off.
There are some very good deals on the 7, you can have a flip or an open face helmet. I just got a second one for £230.

If you like the idea of an open face then go with the Shoei.
Great sizing options (per The Chap in the Cap) and great colours too.
Otherwise Neotec 3.

I’ve had all the Shoei flips since Multitec.
Neotec 3 is great with supreme comfort especially after PFS but in hot weather I leave it at home and use my Shark OXO as it flips fully back to leave an open face which is much nicer riding along than with the Neotec chin bar hovering over your head .

I have an Arai full face, and a J Cruise. I like them both, but prefer the Shoei any day.

There is a third option that nobody has mentioned, so far. Modular helmets are incredibly popular in regions like the South of France. I bought one in Biarritz last spring, knowing I would be riding to Sid’s and touring afterwards. Thank goodness I did as it was up to 44°C on one of the days. The key difference is how the sides come around to still provide more protection to the face in ‘open’ mode. On my Scorpion, the visor also comes much lower than on a full face or flip front but the chin bar is fully out of the way, yet still very easy to rotate into place when needed. They don’t catch the wind like a flip front does.

I tried the LS2 Advan as it seemed a great option, but the store had a Scorpion full carbon Exotech next to it on the shelf and in my size. The difference in comfort/quality was much more than the difference in cost so I got the Scorpion.

I have recently bought a ADV 350, it really is an outstanding bike

I'm not familiar with the J Cruise 3 helmet so can't comment

Regarding your helmet choice ....have you considered a flip front, the Schuberth E2 is homologated for use fully open thereby offering the best of both worlds

But the E2 doesn’t fully open , it’s just a flip up !

i have the J cruise 3, and also a neotec 3. Using both with my x-adv750 (possible for sale and better than the 350!!) even with the tall screen adjusted I find the J cruise a little 'windy' - something that was never an issue with the GS - worth a test with each helmet before you buy? ps - my head is a shoei shape and if yours is too - the shark will be horrible/

I knew you would comment....:ROFLMAO:

The E2 like other Schuberth Flip front helmets features a system whereby you can lock the flip open, giving the effect of an open front helmet
Apart from the chin bar and peak sitting in the wind above your head . Same as the Neotec 3 . That’s why helmets like the Shark OXO are better as you have the chin bar open as it sits right at the back , balancing the weight and creating a proper open face .

Rubbish ! The Shark fit is very similar to a Shoei .
