Was thinking of treating myself to a new lid fancy one of these ,wfat do you chaps and chapess,es think about them ,I see the boys in blue use them .

It's brillant buy one! :thumb2

Why?
1. Value - you get two visors and a pinlock insert
2. It's lightweight .. compared to other flip flops
3. It's Shoei - known quality

Had one since they first came out. REally like it. Recently tried a system 5 (and had one before the shoei) and it felt heavy. I was only tempted by the £200 price tag .. then someone reminded me that you wear it for ages so get the one that works best.

:thumb2

Tell me indecisive ,Im a size L in a Shoei xr1000 helmet should I basically go the same ,was gonna buy mail order :thumb2

Excellent helmet. Just about to order myself a new one to replace the one that bounced down the road. Can definately testify to there impact protection :thumb.

I really like mine too! a great helmet. A lot quieter than the raid 2 and its a flip face helmet!
My only niggle is the chin bar seems/is very close to the chin, more so than the raid 2 (it is the first flip helmet I have used/tried so could be a common trate) I have had to remove the mic on the Autocom it was/is that close. Not really aproblem as the wifey has just got herself a new baby :nenau :D so I won't be needing to talk to anybody on the back for a while anyway. As always try before you buy and judge for youself

I've done a fit on mine that puts the mic into that perfect little button hole in the chin bar so it goes up and down with the chin bar and doesn't get in the way. The best bit is no wires or tampering with the helmet. I'll take it apart and post some pics if you want to see how to do it.

Make sure and try one on before you buy Big Jets.
I have had a couple of Shoei helmets in the past and a few Arai.... Always been sure about the necessary size.

I bought a cheapie flipfront (£99) Caberg Trip, (with built in sunglasses ) for a Spain to Italy trip a year ago. Brilliant piece of kit for that particular trip, but feels big and cheap now.

Father Christmas got me a Shoei Multitech (after much begging)
It is my usual, SIZE M....
Great quality.... comes with all the toys, whisper kit to exclude draughts... tinted visor for sunny days, and the amazing pinlock anti-mist insert. All for free. Well worth the money.

BUT... I have only worn it once in the last 6 weeks or so (awaiting an op on my wrist, so not allowed to ride the bike)

The chinbar is VERY close to my chin. I am a bit of a porker, but no Roger Ramjet....

The only other flipfronts I have tried are... Caberg, BMW and Roof, all of which weren't as close to my chin as the Shoei.
Don't get me wrong, the Shoei is the best, but make sure it fits your face.... as it might be close.

flip up lids

a little off topic but are they that much more useful that the fixed full face ones for commuting duties?

Got a multitech middle of last year. Its good as I was expecting for a Shoei and a side by side comparision feels no heavier than my old Xr1000.
The only downside i've had is misting of the visor when fully shut.
The normal foggy anti mist guards dont fit easily so its meant I've swapped back and forth between the XR and the multi dependant on weather.

I really like mine. Had it since april last year and it still looks and feels like new, I tried a few other flip front's before buying this one and this is the one that just seemed to fit that much better than the others. I did however forget to tell SWMBO how much it was! I may have needed it more than ever then. :bash

My darling beloved bought me one for Christmas and they are great. However I had to go down a size from my Shoei XR1000, so you do need to test fit one first.

I don't know if they are still doing it but Inifinity had 10% off Shoei helmest for loyalty card holders. This 10% discount together with the points added to your loyalty card means a saving of about £35.00.

In our local Inifinity shop if you let them know you can get it cheaper online they generally give abit of a discount.

OOoohhhhhh yes please. I have 2 Multi tech's a white one and a gloss black one. I have trouble with both as the mike boom catches on the chin piece and I usually get about 12 months out of one before it gets all manky and has to be replaced.

Cheers :aidan

Mine came with the whisper kit which I like it also came with a smoked visor as well as a clear one with pinlock insert the visors are quickly changed so if you go out on a sunny day and then find you are riding back after dark it's no problem to swap I was told ( Pidcocks) that the helmets are hand made so may vary in size therefore best to try on the one you buy I bought mine from Pidcocks but they matched the best internet price I quoted them so fair enough

I bought mine from MCA in Leicester, not the cheapest but good old fashioned service. My head is inbetween medium and large, so some adjustment with foam was needed to get a comfortable fit, I agree the chin bar is very close to your chin. My main gripe was that it does not seem any quieter than my old shoei lid, need to make some adjustments maybe to the visor fit, but for some unknown reason there is more 'bufferting noise' than before ? if i stand up on the pegs and get into clean air its quiet
suggestsions, anyone had similar ?
