Wow…they’ve come on a wee bit since my old mono. Trigger operated tripod with swivel rest and interchangeable heads for rifle and optics. Mind you, the price has come on a bit too….🤪

I bought one of these last year....

I've always found many of them too cumbersome for most of my stalking, preferring to use what's at hand like logs, my rucksack and on occasion, I carried a Vanguard lightweight tripod with swivel head which was much handier than quadsticks. Simple quadsticks seem to provide the most solid rest of shooting at distance but they're a pain in the bum to carry and overpriced for what they are. I made my own but after several outings just got fed up using them.

I like the new tripod styles, just heavy for long walks in rough ground. For deer hunting we still use the quad sticks, light, easy carry and very stable

my brother (77) with a bad back and hips has bought a trio shooting seat. works fine, his shooting has improved using it. i had a go on on sunday when we were amongst the clays and am tempted to get one as my balance isn't so good.

seen them but not tried them. for where we shoot its hard to stand let along balance the seat

brother told me just now that he has also bought a 4 legged one, i will try to post on how it compares to the 3 legs.

The 4 legs are better big difference specially when rifle has bipod etc on it adding weight.

The tripod i was thinking of was likes of a BOG deathgrip, but they are big an bulky. However be ideal to setup for shooting rabbits when know be staying in 1 sport for a while

Only shotgun here and just clays nowadays.

I have been using quad sticks now for about a dozen years, I quickly went from monopod and tripod and made my own quad sticks, then 6 months later the first commercially made ones became available. ( well, first ones I came across).
They are very stable, so much so that the game dealers commented on the fact that they had far less spoiled carcasses from people as they gained popularity. It should be noted that lots of people do not know how to set them up correctly, I have seen pictures of people who sell them with a picture of them with their arse sticking out as they lean over and into the sticks.
I always carry them in the car, but sometimes will still take the shot, using logs or gates if the shot needs to be fast, but if there is time, then quads sticks now all the way.
I have 2 pairs of them now, second pair for trainees. Would never go back to bipods. I do have a tripod for holding the rifle when out foxing, but have added a fifth leg to the quad sticks so I do not have to hold the rifle when looking around.
It is however good to practice, freehand, kneeling and basically any different position you can try, to get experience, cos you never know when you will need to take a shot that you cannot do on sticks.

The downside, they are slower to deploy.

I have quad sticks but I now use a Bog Death grip aluminium.. simply superb and I carry it when foxing. If you think it’s too heavy there is also a carbon version but in all honesty it is so light I even take it when rabbating.

More interested in what you have mounted atop..?

I was taught to shoot off the shoulder. No sticks, a rucksack for prone long shots (300 yards upwards). You'de be surprised how stable a sitting shot is, over the knee.
