Just got my F800GS and it has Hyperpro springs fitted. What length should the side stand be as it's still the original length ie too long . Has anyone shorten one ?

Hyper pro progressive springs should allow the bike to return to its standard height when you dismount, the only time I have a small concern with the side stand if when fully loaded with panniers etc.

I just didn't want to cut too much off and render it useless. Motorworks have shorter ones but they are over £40.

Congratulations on getting the bike - I saw your picture, it looks clean. Is it definitely lowered? It looked fairly standard. If you want to compare with a tape measure just say and I could send you the dimensions of my bike or meet and compare.

I can measure my 650 one if that helps. It will be shorter than the 800.

Alan, I think it must be lowered as I can flat foot it. It does have a low seat from the order spec supplied by Vines but I think I need to check the spring preload setting. Bike only arrived at 4pm today so just quickly looked at obvious things. Your measurements would be useful Alan. Also Seahorse not sure if your stand length would be correct for the 800 but what do I know!
Just checked Haynes manual which gives all dimensions of both standard seat and low seat so I will measure tomorrow.

I have a short side stand from a 650 (I think) that I had on my 800 when it was 50mm lower. I went back up 25mm after I had ridden a Honda TransAlp round Turkey last year and when I got back on mine at Gatwick realized that the 50mm was too much.
So, anyway, I have just been in the garage with a tape measure and the standard prop stand is 13.5 inches (34cm) from pivot to foot, and the short one is 10 inches (25.5cm) pivot to foot.
Depending on how far down yours has been lowered I can let you have the short stand for £10 plus postage.

I've got a short main stand as well if you need it.

My side stand is the standard one but now I have set the preload it's ok so panic over.
