I bought my R1150GSA second hand from my local dealer in September '05. It was only 2 1/2 months and 1,500 miles old (so not even run in really). It had everything I wanted (heated grips, low seat, ABS), some things I wasn't sure about (servo brakes, red seat) and some things I didn't care about (clear indicators).
Since then it's had a hard life. I've off roaded it from Salisbury Plain to Rhayader. I've sent it to Morocco with Fanum. I've ridden it through fords. I've dropped it off road and on road (right outside the Hand Hotel in Llangollen with 100 tossers watching
). It's been thrashed, bimbled, ridden two up, overloaded and turned upside down. I rode it all winter but tried to avoid heavily salted roads, and it's rarely been washed. I've even tried doing the odd bit of DIY spannering
It's just had it's 10,000 mile service and final warranty check. The bill was just over £200 (a pittance if you've ever ridden a Ducati
). There doesn't appear to be anything wrong with it apart from some corrosion on the under carriage where I've been bouncing it off rocks.
Now it's out of warranty should I trade it in for a 1200? The dealer offered me £6,000 for it
