Should I trade my 2008 1200 GS for 2010 GSA?

I'm only a 29" inside leg and although my bike is a standard gs I have ridden a 1200gsa with a Sargent seat fitted,it was no problem the Sargent seat is much narrower at the front than the standard seat allowing your feet to get much closer to the ground and it's a lot comfier on extended journeys.

Try the sergeant seat, i am sure someone up by you will lend you one, it changes the bike completely, you sit "in the bike" rather than on it

i have one and its great, oh and really comfy.

I'm 5'10" or 5'11" on a good day with 32" legs. Found the GSA quite manageable with standard seat and superb with sergeant seat. However don't put the suspension to off-road as it grows alarmingly tall in those circumstances!

Yep, it does sound like a huge beast. Another member has suggested a lowered sargent seat (which I have heard of) but I don`t know how that compares to the standard seat height - i`ll have a look on the `tinternet!

Mark I am 5'10" and have a 29" inside leg, and after test riding a 2010 GSA did a deal, when mine turned up it was higher even though there was no logical explanation etc, Southport Superbikes were great trying different seats, offered me a GS etc but the bottom line was I took a chance and bought it. The bike seems to settle down about an inch within the first few hundred miles and I now ride it with confidence and ease, normal seat etc and love every minute of it! PS ta for the crud catcher!

No regrets

I have been offered a pretty good deal on a 2010 GSA trading in my 2008 GS. With the paniers offer it makes for quite a tempting proposition.

I fancy the bigger tank, bigger screen and if I am honest the looks but is the 2010 noticably better in terms of engine? Obviously GS vs GSA isn't quite apples with apples but I always wanted the ultimate and with VAT and price rises this might be the last affordable chance for a while.

So, what's your view? Would I notice the difference?

I chopped my 07 GS for a 2010 GSA, first few hundred miles good, now however Its better than good its great and worth every penny of my hard earned, it is a different aniumal to ride and i took it easy for about 1000 miles but it eats sports bikes daily now!

Absolutely you should trade in your bike - its because of guys like you that secondhand bikes eventually trickle down to the likes of me.
