I've seen a 70K mile 1998 BMW R1100 GS pop up round the corner from me for £2.5K, and I'm sorely tempted.

Currently I'm riding a FZ6 which, to be honest, whilst great for the commute I do, is a little uncomfortable (I'm 6'6") and I've always pined after a proper GS.

The bike I've seen appears to be in good condition from the photos apart from a little bit of bubbling round the filler cap. There's loads of extras with it, and a fair amount of receipts too.

Question is, would I be insane to look at this? Is this bike a good price?

etc etc etc...

Hi Fomb
Its barely run in! :thumb2

Just check it over for all the usual stuff, play in bearings & see if there is any service history. Pretty bomb proof. :thumb
I'm sure a few more will be along in a mo to add there pennies worth!! :D

If you do get it, have fun. :green gri :JB

You can do too much checking.

I bought mine from a small ad, travelled by train with a one way ticket to Bournemouth and rode it back home to Birmingham after seeing the MOT cert.

I had no idea if it was any good. I'd never actually seen a g/s before yet alone ridden one. Quite exciting and never regretted it. Now had it for 12 years.
