As i'm feeling the need to build a proper sized bike (working on minimotos all the time ) i was thinking of turning Jaffa the RT into a cafe racer. i'm thinking of building it on upside down forks with radial brakes, wire spoked wheels on black exel rims, ohlins piggy back twin rear shocks and for the bodywork a monza type long tank with seat unit and a ducati monza type fairing all painted in blue and orange gulf scheme.
I think Pastyman would approve and i recon it'd look rather nice. whatcha recon.

Stick with the mono back end. I love the way it appears to float on the nearside. It will also work better as a mono with a decent shock.

I'm thinking of, I'd like more of a flatter guzzi type tank like the guy from the tank shop makes. I'd like also to fit more modern suspension and a smaller front wheel just to improve the handling. I guess I'll sit down and make out a shopping wish list

The Tank Shop take over a year to make a tank for you. Very slow service. I think there are other tank builders around who can do it quicker.

The more I look at those standard tanks the more I like em. I think a good project could be on the cards here. What's the widest rim I could run on the rear if I had a wheel built and would I need to get the rim off set to the hub.

Your probably going to have to give up on the wire wheel option and start looking at k series cast wheels. You'd bevel box won't support wire wheels

It would be a shame to use a perfectly good original bike when all you really need is a frame with a V5 to start a project

g/s and ST have 3 bolt rear wheel fixing, mono RT has 4.

The paralever gs wheel will bolt onto a mono RT hub,there are a couple of ways of addressing the brake drum offset,one is to machine the boss inside the hub,i came up with another method which doesn`t involve machining anything off the boss.I made some extensions for the brake shoe pivot and actuating cam,and machined an alloy band that bolts to the bevel box,making up the gap between the hub and bevel box.If you go through my thread "Project Bike Advice"in the airheads section i have some pictures which shows the setup
