the belt was changed on its last service about 10 months ago - on my way home tonight there was a tinkling sound then battery light on the dash - followed steptoes guide re belt removal and found the belt was shredded.

now i know belts are cheap enough but my main worry is, is there something wrong causing the belt to do this? or is it just a tough shit kind gig as they do that sometimes?

cheers peeps:beerjug:

as far as loading the alternator goes - i have 1 set of spots and i sometimes ( when its cold, cos im a soft arse) i use the heated grips..... thats as far as the current drain goes.

Yes it shouldn't look like that. Put on wrong or inferior quality belt.

My 1100 eat it's belt while I was going round Scotland few years back , no idea why , was left with on mm holding but it got me home to Belfast ok , rang the company and got new belt ,fitted it and no trouble since . Don't know why , but carry spare just in case it ever eats it again .
