Show me your boots

Hey guess what - i actually found some excellent boots - NOT made by kids in china etc - made in Australia, sydney even and they are a normal price !

Redback boots are top quality workwear, safetywear and emergency service quality.

A pair of normal workboots is about $60 - (25-30 quid) I've had a pair for 2 years now and they are amazingly good.

If you feel that strongly against child labour - for whatever reason - these can be bought in Aus and USA - and probably UK somewhere.

Got a pair of offroad oxtar.........but only wear when i'm greenlanin.......and got a pair of really comfy waterproof boots think they are oxtar as well .......offroad boots look cool, but a real pain if you actually have to walk anywhere in the flippin things......just like wearing ski boots not ankle movement in them.................:confused:but i do like the bmw ones cos they do have a bit more movement in them..........:o

Glad you replied here Janie, here is a valid point re the off road / motox cross boots that I like. Being female do you find that the boots fit nicely around your legs since we ladies are not so chunky like the men, did you purchase "mens" boots as I am guessin that these are what I will be having to get as cant seem to find "ladies" fit and kids would be too short, but I am guessin since I only need a size 6 they will snug all the way up? Know what you mean about walking about in them, when I had a pair last yr (that I sold as too big) it felt as though I was walkin with bloody great weights on my feet whereas my Sidi Evo Rains are fantastic for mooching about in :)

Daytona Roadstar GTX. The most comfortable boots I've ever worn:thumb2
Totally waterproof, good protection , loads of fitment adjustability and they last really really well. They're so comfy I usually forget I've got bike boots on and end up wandering round in them all day:)
The full length zip means they're on and off in a second too.

Have a look here They do higher leg versions and a more off-road orientated style too:thumb2

well - as they say in Lahndun - fck my old boots !

Steptoe -- I recon you could have had those resoled and got another 12 months out of them :-)

Just got a pair of Daytona's brilliant straight from the box.

Like these, not as cumbersome as full on MX boots, can be worn with jeans and Alpinestars are top kit

Nice to know you are here by my side too Moody ;) :thumb Like the second ones, are yours ladies Moody or did you just get them from the mens section, dont seem to be many ladies fit boots about, god its decisions decisions, so many to choose from

I have some Oxtar Matrix's and they are v comfy and totally waterproof.

the "bmw" boots are simply Oxtars re-badged... as are plenty of the Hein Gericke ones.

Oxtar are italian and owned by Scarpe who make lots of awesome mountain boots too. (edit: i think Oxtar got bought by someone in July and might be called TCX now)

Still huntin, I either find what I like then they dont do my size or the right size and way too expensive (there are a lot on special offer out there at the moment) or not the colour that I would like :blast I guess we females are simply way too fussy :P but I will get there soon I am sure :thumb

Hi H - good to see you here too. :thumb2

The Hein Gericke boots are really good and come down to size 5 at least. (That's the size I bought). I think they were about £130.
Next time you're over on the mainland have a look at H-G and see if they are still available.

Cheers for that mate, I will do :thumb

I swear by Daytonas. Sooo comfy, very waterproof but not particularly sexy. Check Ebay for a German company that ship to UK at very reduced prices.

To those of you with Crossfire SRS boots - did you try them against the non-SRS ("TA" I think?) version?

The SRS version looks like the toe area might be roomier inside than the TA version when compared size-for-size.

If I had to criticize my old Top Actions, it'd be for the toe area being a little snug - the boots fit fine, but I'd wear through the end of a sock in a day's walking/riding/walking if my toenails weren't trim. Sorry for that imagery, but I have to take my chance to ask.

From everything I've seen, the Crossfire SRS doesn't seem to be available in the UK. I've seen them for sale in the US but not here.

My Flexforce SRS could hardly be described as "roomy" in any sense. If the TA's have less room in the toe box, they must be quite constricted. I'm fortunate in that I have narrow feet and finely constructed ankles and my Sidis fit like carpet slippers inside hinged plaster casts. If, for example you find that Daytonas fit you....I can only think that they're constructed for broad-footed, thick-ankled Germanic peasant stock....you'll probably be struggling to get a pair of Flexforce or Crossfire to fit......:nenau

I'm talking more about the way the very front of the toe box slopes down to the sole - width was never an issue for me.

It's like in this really high-quality diagram I just threw together :o :

SIDIToeBox.jpg

The top is meant to represent what I think the TA would fit like and the bottom, the SRS - this is just based on pics I've seen of both.

I should note that my toenails are neither red (not mid-week anyway), nor that thick - that was just to emphasise what I'm getting at.

It could have been simply that I should have been wearing size 44 Top Actions instead of 43, but when I tried them on in the shop, the 43 was much better, so that's what I bought.
