Show us your GS/GSA LC

I have found that plod turns a very blind eye to flags like this on memorial rides... Though perhaps an arrest should be made for that light blue "junior" service one?

Respect to you Brother.

I fly a similar size White Ensign on my bike, though I was unable to make RTTW this year, I had the honour to carry a blind veteran on the Ride For Life Beyond Sight Loss this year

Same bike, same Jacket! Good Lad!!!
Now which one of us should be mini-me?

If it's a nice day I sometimes go for ride from where I live, near Loughborough, over to Grantham, going out via the back roads past Belvoir Castle and returning via the reasonably entertaining main road via Melton Mowbray. I have a bit of a tradition of taking pictures of each of my bikes (5 in the last five years) with Belvoir Castle in the background, so took my camera with me last week to get some pictures of the GS, so here are a couple. I've posted the third picture because as I stopped the bike I was startled to see what looked like a Lancaster bomber right overhead and quite low. I rushed to get off the bike and get the camera out, but by then the plane had disappeared behind the castle. It then circled back round going back in the direction it had come, but unfortunately a long way off so I only got a pretty poor picture, but I would be interested if anyone could confirm that it is a Lancaster.

This is my 6th GS and my 2nd LC. Previous GS was a 2013 model with 25k miles. I was due a change soon anyway and the TFT display tipped me over the edge. I've only done 100 miles so far but first impressions are very positive. Much smoother engine and gearbox, love the new display. I managed to connect it to my Sena 20S and iphone very easily although I don't use the spoken instructions from the Nav 6. Quite a few small improvements from my early model. The horn button sticks out further, so you can actually use it, the silly clear spoiler behind the main screen has been replaced by a simpler black plastic part and you can now have the auxiliary lights on with the daytime running lights. Very pleased so far.

Loving that colour!!

Yeap, that will be a Lancaster, double screen on bike looks weird!
Just a shame I wasn't there two minutes earlier, could have taken a real closeup of the Lanc.

I've become used to the screen appearance now and even think it quite suits the bike, but even if I didn't like it I would forgive the looks because it is so effective.

The screen looks like a PITA to clean.

Because my bike didn't come with one.

I considered having one fitted but decided to see if I really missed it first. I have had the bike now for 6 months, use it daily and have clocked up 5,300 miles since. I wash it weekly and whilst a center stand would make cleaning the wheels a bit easier I can honestly say I have easily done without.

One thing less to corrode eh!

Very scenic, and I'm sure the weather is generally better than rural Leicestershire, though judging by the state of that road it looks like the Rallye was a good choice!

The top screen just slides off the adjusters, so is easy to clean. The only issue is cleaning the rider side of the main screen as my satnav on its raised bracket gets in the way, but that would be the same with the standard screen. I don't know how it even gets dirty on that side, but somehow always seems to collect a few bug splats.

I might take mine off then, cos I find cleaning the spoked wheels whilst on the center stand a bugger of a job! :D

No, I had it resprayed by the dealer before collecting it. It's Atacama Yellow, which is a genuine BMW colour they used on a limited edition Z4 a few years back. The standard colour choices are pretty boring and I fancied something more interesting. Yellow used to be a GS option many years ago.

Ahhh, thanks. Looks good.

Yes, that was the Battle of Britain memorial flight Lanc. RAF Coningsby is very close, hence the low altitude.

Is that an RT exhaust can?

Yes - I fitted an RT can and heat shield, so that I could fit touring style Shad panniers and get them close in to the bike. I had to do a fair bit of modifying of the pannier mounts, as they are designed to normally fit outboard of the high level exhaust.
