Well, after lots of deliberation, and in readiness for the run over for the NW200, i've gone and bought a C3, ( as opposed to a Tour X )

Hopefully it'll be quieter than my Arai's ( Chaser & Corsair), even if it just doesn't seem to have that ' bullet proof' feel to it that the Arai does.

Still, 20% off at Hein Gerrick means a £445 lid for £356, bargain ?? Time will tell.

Love the sun visor tho, thats a winner. And the pinlock.

Just got to wedge the Autocom headset into it tonight !

Lovely, .....hopefully.:beerjug:

Best of luck, will follow your posts on how you get on, enjoy NW 200 and the black stuff.

I would be interested to hear if you have any C3 automagic visor closure behaviour on your helmet - mine closes from the open position at speeds of circa 35mph and above, so I can't elect to have the visor open at such speeds...

I have that, mostly about 50mph, but it depends on where the wind comes from (side winds does it earlier).

Mine also leaks from the top of the visor, which is more annoying, but it seams to be an issue with all C3's.

I am looking at the C3 as well

How and when did you get a 20% discount at HG??

Good price at £356.

Well i didn't ask for it, the guy serving entered my details onto Hein G's other website ( 4theride.co.uk), printed off a voucher for %20 off and that was that !

First impressions are that it isn't a quiet as i hoped, the build quality isn't quite Arai ( which i had feared ) and having put the Autocom headset in, its a bit less comfortable too, however, i've stripped the headset speakers out of their holders and mounted them back in the helmet, so my ride home will tell me if thats an improvement or not.

I've yet to ride with it in the rain, so i don't know if it leaks or not.

Same here.

Has anyone had the visor removal lever break? My left side one had one of the retaining posts collapse. Helmet city swapped the lever with no issues.

yes it automagically shuts at almost anyspeed.. frigin anoying..

had the top air vent adjuster fall out twice. No issues with the autocom.

It does let water in behind the visor unless its clamped in place on the lowest settings..

I like the lid, don't know if I can live with it long term though..

Shuberth C3 - Second thoughts

Well, 800 miles in 5 days through some of the worst weather i've ridden in for a long time, and i can confirm the following;

Good bits
  • Its all day comfortable.
  • The top vent works well
  • The strap is quick & easy to use
  • The opening mechanism is easy to use
  • The inner dark visor is easy to use, and works well
Bad bits
  • The visor leakes in rainwater from the top, which is poor design
  • Its not particularly quiet, i still need to wear earplugs at anything over 60mph, which is a disappointment. Its certainly not substantially quieter than my Arai's
  • The pinlock didn't stop the outer misting up
  • The visor self closes above 40 due to wind pressure.
  • Without earplugs the front vent, when open, is very noisy
Is it worth £359 ( never mind the list £440) ? No, its more like a £150 helmet, the overall build quality isn't great, it feels ( and in my opinion looks ) cheap, and at this price level that visor shouldn't leak. Ever.

Disappointed overall, but at least its comfortable. Shame Arai dont make a helmet with an inner dark visor !! :blast
