ok removed header pipes for polishing as they were a disgrace, as usual rang the heads off the four studs holding the pipe on any way got about 10 mm 0n each still left have ordered four new ones , lashed plenty a WD on the past few nights, trying my best to avoid drilling anyone got any ideas out of the usuall, thanks in advance

This stuff is great - freezes the bolt/stud as well as being a penetrating oil - I have had good results freeing seized bolts with it. Follow the instructions and it should work.

Shop around for best price, that was just a random Google, BTW...

EDIT - When you come to rebuild it, put copper or brass nuts on (I also used stainless studs) - that way you can just cut them off next time...

A hoor of a Job , My heart sinks every time it happens ,,, A Balls.
Usually i jump up and down , Fuckin and Blindin .
I spent several Hours on two bolts recently , and you can learn from my
mistakes ,,,,,,, Everyone says ,, Drill it ......
My advice is THIS IS THE VERY LAST THING TO TRY , its inevitable you
will go off center ,and fuck what ever the Surface is mated to.
Tke it to an engineering works before this

Theres a good few ways of doing this . Heat ..

Heat , have you access to a blowtorch , doesnt have to be one of the big ones , a wee gas cylinder type will do the Trick ..
Heat up the Bolt , let it penetrate , cup a tea , then heat it again ,

Then

If you have any imperial sockets , if you can get one ,to nearly but not quite fit , then hammer it on and gently gently .

Get an edge on one of the Flats of the Nut , and try with a Flat screwdriver beating with a hammer to loosen it

If your anywhere near an engineering works get them to weld something
high tensile to the Nut and work it off , If its not high tensile dont bother.
They will know what your talking about
to beat it around.

Bet you wish you never started ..
The Big one here is to take your time , and its gonnie take time ,
probably frustration ,,,

Heat , take a Break , Heat , then take your choice

And under no circumstances use an an Easy-out/stud extractor!

That will break and cause even further heartache.

If heat and penetrant wont work, go to an an engineering shop, much easier for everyone.

I have used Howard's in Glasnevin a few times over the years, great work at reasonable rates.

Welding an oversize nut onto the old stud will heat up the stud and when it cools it may be a bit freer in the alloy head,

Nah Flash Resign yerself Drilling it is!

I've tried that nut thing dozens of times and it only worked about 3 of them and only on one stud the others just broke off behind the nut

Better to go find a machine shop sales place and buy yourself a dozen GOOD (not made in China or India Schite) drills gettin bigger in size till you are just a wee bit thinner than the thread 2 off each size is a good idea!

Start off really small and DON'T load too much pressure on it maybe a 2 mm one and then a 3 or 4 etc etc

But Take it nice and slow and as level as you can get it a squirt of WD40 or something frequently will help the drill not to dull too quickly and help flush stuff out to stop it blocking with crud and finally carefully and backing it out frequently run an M8 x 1.25 tap down the stud orifice

Remember plenty of Lube and Back it out if it gets tight!!

Oh Aye TIP Stuff Kitchen roll in the Exhaust ports BEFORE ya start

done it now , broke the drillbits in the studs, bike off to get sorted now, most likely a hellicoil job,

yep unless something hard is in it. i broke crappy lidl allen key and left a domed nut and couldnt bloody punch it and rill made crpa the plastic beside it

TRI-FLOW oil is excellent. it will loosen the tighest of nuts.

heat and oil best man for future ref.

before i begin i always like to warm up me nuts then lube them up with they get tight..........
