Due to my ongoing bowel problems I have given great consideration to sitting on my 1200 GSA side saddle fashion. It would relieve the pain suffered when having full weight on my arse.I know that in this riding position I would have to have some sort of extension to the brake or gear lever, depending on which buttock I use.Do you think this possible or am I pissing in the wind. Please help, desperate.Regards Ian.

You can ride any bike side saddle, but it's very interesting when you have to stop and you haven't got a leg on the right side. Don't ask.....

Having said that, I've met a bloke with an arm and a leg missing on the same side, and he get's along alright:thumb2

Go try it and see what your insurance says, and tell me when you're going to have your first go at it, so I can come and watch. It could be an interesting day out.:D

Just thought, try the National bikers with disabiliteis, they'll be the best people to try.

A thumbe brake for the rear brake could easily be addpted I pressume just like the stunt riders use.
My mothers uncle many many years ago rigged up a gear shift lever for the other side of the bike quite easily, so i see no difference with this.
Would be interesting going round corners from the side you are not sitting on. Ever thought of a trike, or one of these BMW's with a side car.

Highway code Rule 84 states that you MUST sit astride the motorcycle. As the word must is in red I believe that it is the law rather than an advisory statement.

Just bought a new Highway code - thought I should reread it as the last time was a while ago.

You are bound to get stinky replies in your search for a commodious solution.
Ignore them.
Just turn the other cheek.

Ian have you tried adjusting your riding position to reduce the weight on your arse. For example you could try ROX risers that would allow you to move the handlebars forward and create a bit of a 'stretch'. Sports bikes can offer a really comfortable riding position of you dont have a bad back/ neck.

Buy a Burgman.

Could you get a special seat made up with a releif in the center like the old cowboy saddles? or maybe a big wide seat that you see on some custom HD bikes.
I guess another idea would be to ride one of the super scooters. Do you suffer with the seating position when driving a car?

Have you considered trying an Airhawk? Worth a go if it doesn't work put it in the FS section...... I would suggest applying Timmys rule though. :thumb2
