My Bruv has noted that his GSA leans rather a long way to the left, just today we were discussing this when I spied these in his shed. Solid vulcanised rubber and the ideal size what do you think ??

Once we have one fitted and if it works ok I will see if I can scrounge a few off him. Not sure how many he has but suspect he has a few stashed away. Want to have a look at the real thing ? I will have one fitted before the BMF.

Good Point Gauloises, need to drill a few holes to find out.

For pucks sake

Puck 25mm

I don't know about everyone else but 20mm is my limit
anymore and it will interfere with the center stand :(

Some great solutions... :thumb

...but why are they necessary? My Adv sidestand was fine when it was new, but has gradually got more 'flexible', until I've started losing confidence in it. I had it looked at by BMW Salt Lake, when they did a bit of work on the bike the other day, but they said that the bolt is torqued correctly and that all seems well...

The pivot is a simple fork, so where is the wear? - do the holes 'oval'? All the above solutions address symptoms rather than the root cause - ie what causes the 'sag' in the first place?

Does everyone's stand have this much movement?

ps I have the Wunderlich foot pad - more to spread the weight on soft ground than to make it sit more upright...

My 1999 1150's sidetand seems similarly 'flexible'. I like the 'it's set to the right torque, Sir' - doesn't give one any reassurance does it? The side stand on my Yamaha Super Tenere was a simple 'U' piece that bolted around a flange on the frame. No matter how hard I tightened the clamping bolt it still loosened allowing the 'U' piece to spread, the resulting slack was quiet huge when it got to the foot of the side stand.

I don't think it's a matter of any wear, it's just that in the UK (or any other place where they drive/ride on the left) the GS leans an alarming way over when parking near the kerb on some streets. On the other side of the road, or on level ground, there would be no problem whatsoever.

Umm - no. It's exactly the same here (USA), and it is a problem, whether on level ground or not - on my bike, at least...
