How do I remove the brass bush in the frame as20230709_094849.jpg its worn out,
Looked on Utube nowt seen.
Do I put a hacksaw through it and split it ..hit it out with a socket..
Or your answer please..

According to the parts fiche, it is two collared bushes, part number 46537679105.
They are pushed in from each side. You should see there is a slight gap between them, halfway down the hole. "Tap" them out using a suitable drift and "tapper" ( big hammer). Easier to tap the inner one out first, driving it to the centre of the bike. That gives more opportunity for driving it out whilst working from the wrong side.
If you have a slide hammer bearing puller sitting in a box, now would be a good time to dig it out 😉

Its not a brass tube, its two top hats ,

once the hats are off/ out the stand can be pulled off and the bush can be pushed / fall out

And TBH unless is absolouty fecked, you wont see much difference .

See above, if i recall the bush is held in by the side stand , U type arrangement once the tops hats are out the bush generally falls out

The top hat bushes have no meat on them , they ar about 1mm thick and about 3mm depth they are almost wafer thin, but they corrode and stick in place,

i removed it with a hacksaw blade across the depth to give me some thing to get a pair of pliers on and then wound it out

You cant use a slide hammer until you get one out, as the other bush fights it, once you have one out, you can use the inner bush as a drift to push the other out

Cheers lads,will have another look.
The side stand when deployed too use, moves about 2 inches up and out in a straight plane from normal..
I forgot about real oem site for info....aswell...

As stated above, the bushings are push fit but can need a bit of persuasion to come out. However, changing them won't make much of a difference to the play in the side stand.
A very bad design from BMW, which doesn't hold the outer edge of the stand and over time the gap expands.
Your best bet is to take the stand off and clamp it in a vice to bring it back in. Check for any signs of cracking as I found that on one of mine.
If you have access to a welding rig, you can apply a bit of weld to the outer edge to strengthen it.

I removed the sidestand, and looked into the hole, removed the two top hats, worn out.but they were touching.but can see no Bush...
Real oem says there's one in there but where does it go as the two top hats were touching.....
Most confused....

The bush goes inside the "top hats" the bolt passes through the bush and clamps it agaibst the inside of the fork cut in the side stand. It may be corroded to your side stand bolt , making it look like one assembly?

Post some pics,
if your not the original owner, someone may have removed it at some point

When you refit the bush, dont forget to fill the grove with coppa slip or some other grease

This is all there is,a shouldered bolt, goes through the two top hats, bolt screws into far side of side stand.
No bush attal, the bolt is a solid machined piece, real oem shows a bush aswell.
Bike is 2012 gs.

This is the assembly, bolt goes straight through the sidestand and screws into the far side, two top hats go into the frame lug, bolt rotates inside the top hats..

After putting in my vin number in real oem again, this is what it shows..so the side stand has been changed from another bike too mine..as part no 2 is bolt with a shoulder head on it allowing the sidestand lugs too be tightened up.as mine at the moment is a straight through bolt.

There ain't no bush on a Twin Cam.
That diagram definitely isn't the right one for his bike.

The bush says otherwise

Plain bearing

Part 46527683131 was found on the following vehicles:
I managed to order the wrong bolt when i changed mine, so there may be a varient that dosent use the bush

Indeed there is

looks like it's got an LC sidestand fitted

I bet his month of manufacture is in the run out TC/ run in LC phase

I have two 2010 GSA's, and neither have the bush you're on about. Both of mine have the same setup as 'Crumbles' bike.

Must be a change of design for the late twin cams then because both my 2010s have the same bolt setup as yours.

Which means you would need the updated sidestand.

I know this is an old post, but I'm sure people will still have this issue. So, my 'solution' for this...

According to OEMParts, there are 2 brass collars (#3 on diagram) that can be replaced, but I also read from others this hardly fixes the issue. It seems that the design of the stand makes the 'fork' part getting wider over time.
The fix is relatively easy I found out. Just disassemble (Torx 5.0) and put a small metal washer on the inside of the assembly (by the red arrow on diagram). Than just reassemble and tighten the bold firmly.

Due to the washer, the fork parts (excuse me for not knowing the exact English word for it) can now be pulled closer together, decreasing the play and making the stand work as it was supposed.

No more risk of tipping the bike.
Total time: 10 minutes, total costs: 0,001 pence

Can confirm what Scotriders says. No bush between the top hats on my TC either
