Hi.After riding and painting jap bikes for the last 20 odd years i have recently bought a 2000 r1150gs and love it.After about a month the starter gave a bit of trouble, or rather the starter button. The bike failed to start when button was pressed.I have heard this can be a problem with gs`s so left it back to the shop to sort.
I got it back with an explanation that an old alarm and some dubious soldering were the problem. Fine. But, since getting it back from the shop the bike now will not start on its side stand.I have to haul it onto centre stand and warm the engine that way before a ride.
Can anyone tell me if this is intended by BMW, that is, a fail safe measure to ensure even oil distribution to right cylinder ? And if so, why could i start it on its side stand before? Which i prefer to do!
Any help appreciated

An 1150 should start on the sidestand. But in any case BMW don't recommend warming the bike up before riding. In fact they say. Start and go.
