Received notification today, bike needs a recall to replace the side stand switch - sept 2013 model?

Anybody else affected?

Apologies if this is old news

Is that to stop it cutting the engine when I put it into first ?
Cos that bugs the crap out of me! :augie

Mines same model, first of the 2014 builds, think they put a battery on it at the same time, get them to check for other recalls..

My one is i think one of the first 2014 models but it was built in between the dates quoted which i am unsure of at the moment, as far as i read, it was to change the mounting bolt on the switch as the switch can come loose, or unattach itself for the bike and cause you to take off with the side stand down, living in the Shetland isles we have no dealer here, the other problem i have at the moment is my bike is sitting waiting for in Santa Rosa.:flag

Received the recall letter last Friday. Better get it booked in. Battery was already replaced at 6 weeks old. Late 2013 TE model with the new steering damper. I've now noticed fluid around the base of the front brake reservoir and reading a recent post I'm not alone.

What next ?

BMW really do appear to have lost the plot regarding quality control and charging high prices so they can afford to do all this warranty work and recalls is not the sign of a premium product . As I've stated a lot recently Chinese quality at German prices.

Do we suspect or know if parts fitted to bmw motorcycles are made in china? Quality is certainly poorer than on my last 07gs. And totally shite compared to my last ride the Hp2 sport.....yeh i know i were spoilt.nice kind of spoilt tho.

As a GSA WC owner I have to say the design of the bike is fantastic....I was convinced the TC would be difficult to better but the new GSA is a leap forward in dynamics. However, the execution leaves allot to be desired. I am fortunate in that so far my bike has been without fault, but the materials used are in many cases just cheap and shoddy....particularly the plastics which remind me of a 1980s Citroen AX I once owned which was made out of tin foil and cheap, flimsy scratchy plastic. A great bike compromised by the accountants.

Had side stand recall letter last week too. Mine's a 2014my registered 23rd Sep 2013 (black rear shock spring). Other issues so far as follow's;
Leaking brake fluid front res.
Petrol filler cap internals fell apart, pushed back together for now!
ESA preload control could not set, icon wouldn't stop flashing (battery disconnect didn't help but has fixed itself over the weekend.....)

I had the same issue with the filler cap, sorted under warranty but now starting to get some blistering under the paint.
