Sidestand extender/booster

I got back to my bike today to find that my little extender was missing from my 1150 sidestand.

It's NOT the foot that just gives a wider footprint, but a large block of alloy that was about 2" thick that bolted the original sidestand foot and stopped the bike leaning over so far.

Trouble is that I can't for the life of me recall where I bought it. I've looked at the Boxer Design site, but can't see it. The Touratech website is obscure and incredibly slow to load.

Have any of you guys any idea where to get another of these tools?

No, no, no!!!!!!!!!!! Not a puck. I don't need a wider foot, but a bike that doesn't lean over so far. But thanks for trying.

Many thanks for the pointer at Nippy's. Why couldn't I find that on the Touratech site? Apart from the fact that I couldn't work out how they catalogued it. That was EXACTLY what's gone missing. Odd, 'cos I tightened up the grub screw yesterday .. did malicious hands get to it at Bury Hill?

At least if I order it from NN I won't be delayed by Touratech's appalling customer service.
 
Try a machine shop somewhere, after all it's only a block of ally, should be cheaper than NNs.

I got a puck for a quid at a local Hockey shop . Easier to right when loaded up and I dont have to carry or dick about with a placcy thing when parking on soft ground ....


( Go on.. admit it how many of us have got about a dozen of the buggers coz we forget to take one to the BMF etc and have to get one off the spotty herbert who hawks em out of a carrier bag on the field ) :mmmm

Thanks John, £2.25 delivered actually, and anything much thicker I would be concerned about the stability, but as it now is just right.:thumb2

Mine was "used". I think it was meant to give it greater cachet and value. Didn't bother me as I knew it was going to be second hand after I used it :D
 
How did you fix the puck to the sidestand foot - bolted in some way or glued on?

Stroller so far, I first made a tenplate out of cardboard by placing foot of stand on said cardboard and tracing around it, then used a junior hacksaw and the file on my leatherman tool to shape the puck, really quite easy.
What I intend to do tommorrow (so there's plenty of time for those who know better to correct me), is drill 3 appropriately spaced holes through the foot of the side stand with correspondind guide holes in the shaped puck and then fix the puck to the stand with 3 self tappers.
I would appreciate someone telling me what the stand is made of...mild steel, stainless, ally, or whatever and I can use the correct composition self tappers.

I will not have increased the area of the foot just raised it. It's standing on it it now for a couple of days waiting for fixing and it's just about the perfect height IMHO.
 
Mild steel, I drilled 2 off 5mm holes through the sidestand & into the puck.

Tapped the sidestand out to M6, opened out the puck to 7mm, and counterbored the opposite side, to allow using M6 S/S capheads. These were then loctited to the sidestand. Not personally convinced about self-tappers.

Ah, just reread your post, you're self tapping into the stand, I thought you were screwing into the puck, still rather tap it though.
 
I drilled 3 M6 Clearance holes in my stand, then drilled 3 corersponding 5mm holes in the puck, then screwed 3 roofing bolts in, the advantage of this is they are a very tight fit but screw into the rubber of the puck like self tappers and give you full length fixings, they have never loosened and easily cope with the load.
