Bought one of those sigma multifunction computers from M& P fpr £25. Several trips , converts to Kph etc.

Problem 1 - Sensor doesn't seem to pick up the magnet on the spoke ( i've got the two together as close as possible)

problem 2 - The Mrs threw away the box with the instructions in it before I got chance to set it up correctly ( this might explain away problem 1)

Can anyone help?
Has anyone fitted one successfully?
Could anyone copy the instructions for me?
Have I just wasted £25!!!!!!??????

PS I have posted this on the technical forum too.

Thanks ...............................Ian:confused:

Instructions

Let me know a fax number and i will send them on tho you

The unit will not work well if at all with the sensor on the spoke. You need to make an alloy mount to go on the centre of the fron wheel near to the spindle. I will post a piccy of mine as soon as i get hold of a camera this week.

The way I got round this was :-

I found a magnet out of a door catch that already had a hole in it.
I drilled and tapped a hole down the centre of one of the disc mounting bolts.
I attached the magnet to the end of the bolt.
This brought the magnet close enough to the sensor for it all to work. With the sensor mounted on the inside of the fork leg using the "O"ring supplied.

Once this is done, you will have to guesstimate the circumference of your tyre in order for the unit to calculate the speed you're going. I found that it took several adjustments to get it right.

I've had mine fitted for 4.5 years and its excellant. Changing it to KHPM when touring abroad is helpful but you need a different calibration number and remember to note your total mileage before you adjust it and convert it to KMS. I fixed my magnet to the top of the ABS ring close to one of the rivet fixing points with a small cable tie. Glued the pickup to the inside fork leg with araldite. Had to change the magnet once as it lost its power. I also adjusted the calibration to coincide with my speedo so that it compares well between 50 & 80 mph. My speedo is fast in any case and trying to set it up with wheel circumference showed it to be way out. Play around with your settings to suit yourself.
