Well, took the plunge today and ordered a GS1200 TE.

Take delivery in 3 weeks, hope I'm not going to regret this after reading some of the reliability issues in this forum 😱.

Still as a fall back have kept my Multistrada, just hope the new bike brings as much of a grin to my face 😀 as the Duke?

Good idea. Am enjoying my 2014 TE but have kept my 3 year old K16 just in case.

Not sure which one will fall apart first mind. :D

Welcome :) I'm sure it will be no worse than the ducati ..

Oops, I got rid of both my R12gsa (2010) and my K16 goes when the new TE arrives at the end of the month. But I like to be positive, and believe that it will be fine....

Bunch of ninnies!
There a very good well made bike. It's also very complex and because of that there is more to go wrong. But on the whole very reliable. I use mine every day and I don't ever go to it thinking, will it start.

True, there were a few "teething problems" with the strada - crap rear brake, rough fuel map etc.

Hoping that the GS is now sorted after the initial launch problems

Hi Tigertim, welcome to the forum. As you can see by my posts I am new here too but over the other side of the wall from you. I also came from a multistrada and couldn't be happier. The BMW seems more rideable and user friendly. The comments on this forum about being unreliable are the same as the multi forums. Unfortunately, some bikes do have problems but overall, I think the BMW is a far better proposition than the old multi. I couldn't be happier with mine.
Good luck with yours.

Same bike as ive got, had a multi 1200s previously, the gs te is a more sorted overall package, only losing out in looks and top end performance for me.

Fuel economy is in a different league on the gs compared to the multi. Mines doing 52 mpg which is useful when touring.

See on another thread some folk saying the gsa is better, but for me i prefer the size of a gs , its plenty big enough for my 6'2 frame, i feel the gs feels more bikey and raw than any behemoth-esque gsa ive had previously, where the gsa bike puts you even further from the front wheel, and a standard gs is probably still physically bigger than the multi.

Enjoyable 6k miles in 6 months on mine.

Thanks for the feedback from "over the wall", when I test drove the bike I thought it was responsive enough without the outright power of the multi - I'm guessing this is the "more rideable" aspect you refer to.
Glad to hear you are satisfied with your bike, its appears to be set up for two up riding far better than the Duke which is the main thing that made me look at buying what IMHO is a similar bike

Couldn't agree more with your looks/performance comment

The extra range at 52 mpg is also a big plus!
