Evening all. Since the excellent recommendations previously made by your good selves I come once again to enquire of you.

I’m using the bike now to give my eldest some freedom. He’s got cerebral palsy and loves to ride pillion, he’s essentially wedged between me and the top box and all I can hear is giggling and laughing when we ride. My sat nav was a BMW Nav 5 but it’s dying a death and the connected ride cradle I purchased doesn’t hold the phone securely as the charging light flickers on and off as it moves.

So I’m looking at something that’s cradle mounted, won’t be used to plan difficult journeys (we don’t ride far as he fatigues easily and if I ride home without him as he’s fallen off there’s bound to be paperwork) so I’m usually using waze, and ideally mirror my phone screen for simplicity for music, podcasts etc.

What say thee? Oh, the boy also wants to be able to listen to music through it, he’s going through a grime phase and it’s been educational…

Carpuride 702BS plenty of detail on here

Or Chigee. The advantage of The Nav set uo is that it is satellite- but for most trips the phone (which is what Chigee connects to) is fine.

There is an app that allows you to download the map data to your phone, just like a sat nav so you can still navigate on the Chigee without a data signal, can’t remember what it’s called though.

Edit:
MRA, have a look at the Chigee AIO6 thread.

The Carpuride 702BS worked a treat around Germany in June and seems very stable.

My vote is on Chigee too in conjunction with MRA Route planner & Navigation. I've the AIO-5 Play for BMW with the AIO-6 due in the next week so mine will be up on Ebay.

Do you use Android or Apple?

For Apple I find Scenic far better than MRA. It’s Apple only at the minute - Android version is in beta though.

If you’re familiar with planning in Google Maps website you can even just copy the address bar once you’ve dragged your route to your liking, then paste it into Scenic for import.

MRA is a more powerful planner, but you emphasised simple in your requirements. I use MRA planner for big complex routes, but always navigate with Scenic as it’s just easier and far more reliable than MRA when using CarPlay. The developer is also super responsive - I’ve reported bugs late at night and had a new version with a fix by the time I’ve woken up the following morning.

I've been using Google Maps to plan routes.
On Chrome (Mac) I have a plugin to get around the ten stop limit.
On Android I've a Macro that presses the "next stop" button for me at each waypoint, so I don't have to take my hands off the bars.
Planning to add the Carpuride 702BS - I had a cheap AliExpress version, but it failed in the heat.

Second hand Garmin Zumo 660. Plugs straight in to bmw mount. Should be cheap as they are quite old. Wonder wheel won’t work, otherwise more reliable than bmw navs

Zumo xt. Need a 3dam adapter to fit bmw mount, but works well imho
