Having finally made the effort to sort out my surging and popping, I found the right hand cap arcing out to the magnesium valve cover.
As a temporary repair, I used electrical insulating tape wrapped 6 times round where the cap rubber was split. And for now seems to fix the problem.

Motorworks want £55 for a new one (incl HT cable) but, before coughing up the cash, is there an alternative on the market?

I read somewhere that 'Magnecor' in Derbyshire sell set pairs for the 1150GS model. Noticed different types so, sent them an email.
Anybody here bought from them and if so, what is the reference number?
Just in case I get no or limited feedback.

Order placed for the KV85 set but, reading the small print, it says it may take up to 3 weeks to deliver.
Anyway, spoke to Kelly from sales and told her the bike is my main transport and need it asap for a big ride north next week.
After she contacted Magnecor, I am told they will be on their way tomorrow and arrive Friday 🥂.
That's a 5* service and at the price paid; a 2 for 1 deal over the OEM price from Motorworks / Motobins.

Length of HT cable is 615m. Is that the correct size for single spark 1150GS, before I start removing parts and getting new leads ready? (Says so on box)?
Also, do I need to disconnect the HES plug as well as the -ve cable?
