I still have this fine wee car for sale. I've had some interest from Ireland (no, really, honestly....) but as yet, no-one has bitten my hand off. I believe that these are as rare as hen's teeth in the South and are much sought after. There could be wee bit of room on the price and I can work with the new owner on getting it over the Irish Sea. I'm also happy to arrange live video viewing via either Skype or Facetime. If you don't have either of those, twist my arm and I'll bung a video up on YouTube. :D

This is an economical and reliable wee workhorse and needs to go to a good home in Eire, rather than sitting here on my drive.

I look forward to hearing from you, guys.....:aidan

ps Now on DoneDeal as well.... http://cars.donedeal.co.uk/cars-for-sale/2008-skoda-fabia-ambiente-1-4-tdi-estate/6189721

Mike, when you put the ad up before Christmas I showed it to a mate of mine (a car dealer) thinking he would make an offer to you. His only comment was "too expensive". I dont know the value of the car but I can assure you that the recession here has destroyed car and bike values. If you have not done so already then check Irish prices and compare them.

Thanks Luke. As I said, there's some room for movement on the price. However, I'm sure your dealer mate would say that. The original supplying dealer offered me € 5,750 for it when the owner had paid € 9,000 for it just a year ago. She hasn't put many Km on it in that time, either. I've checked prices as far as I can. There's nothing directly comparable on sale from what I can see. Anything I can find is of a lower spec., has more Km on it and is more expensive.

If the dealer you bought it off offered 5750 that should tell you something

As I car dealer myself I have to say while small easy ran diesels are sought after 50000 second hand cars have been imported from England in 2013 and the car market here is way weaker that in England

My opinion and it's only an opinion is you will be very lucky to get near 7000 from a private buyer in the current Irish market

Trade wise your dealer was within a hundred or 2 of the value of the car ( only my opinion again)

It is simple enough and not expensive to change the reg to an English number and have a far larger healthier market to sell into

When I looked at your add first I though nice car but way to expensive I still think that

The amount of calls you get from done deal will tell you very quick if your phone is hoping your price is near enough if it does not ring or just the odd call on a 08 1.4 diesel car you need to review your add

Just my 2p worth and trying to be helpfull

Thanks Frank, even at € 7K, that's quite a lot more than it would fetch here in the UK. You might think that the bottom has dropped out of the Irish market but second hand cars appear to command higher prices over there than they do here.

Many thanks for the comments. The car is now sold and I delivered it to a nice man from the South in Belfast today. Thread closed. :aidan
