We're trying to set up the wrinklies' sky e-mail account but we don't know the Sky default settings:

  • Incoming server type (eg POP3)
  • Incoming server name
  • Outgoing server name

Anybody help?

Hi Greg,

Incoming server - POP3

Incoming Server - pop3.servername eg. pop3.blueyonder.co.uk

Outgoing Server - smtp.servername eg. smtp.blueyonder.co.uk

Then user name and password and tick the remember password box

Hope this helps :thumb

Enabling POP on your Sky Email account:

1. Log into your Sky Email account.
2. Click Settings at the top of any Sky Email page.
3. Click Forwarding and POP in the orange Mail Settings box.
4. Select Enable POP For All Mail or Enable POP For Mail That Arrives From Now On.
5. Choose the action you'd like your Sky Email messages to take after they are accessed with POP.
6. Click Save Changes.

Configure your mail client:

1. Open Outlook Express.
2. Click the Tools menu, and select Email Accounts....
3. Click Add and then click Mail....
4. Enter your name in the Display name: field and click Next.
5. Enter your full Sky Email address ([email protected]) in the Email address: field and click Next.
6. Enter pop.tools.sky.com in the Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP or HTTP) server: field.
7. Enter smtp.tools.sky.com in the Outgoing mail (SMTP) server: field.
8. Click Next.
9. Enter your Sky Email username (including '@sky.com') in the Account name: field.
10. Enter your Sky Email password in the Password: field and click Next.
11. Click Finish.
12. Highlight pop.tools.sky.com under Account and click Properties.
13. Click the Advanced tab.
14. Under Outgoing Mail (SMTP), tick the box next to This server requires a secure connection (SSL).
15. Enter 465 in the Outgoing mail (SMTP): field.
16. Under Incoming mail (POP3), tick the box next to This server requires a secure connection (SSL).

This port should change to 995 for POP3.

17. Click the Servers tab and tick the box next to My server requires authentication.
18. Click OK.

Did you click Save Changes after enabling POP in Sky Email?

To ensure that Sky Email can communicate with your mail client, be sure to click Save Changes on the Sky Email Mail Settings page.

Guys

Thanks for your input.
