I have recently had an engineer in to upgrade my standard Sky to Sky+ HD.

The problem is that when the phone line is connected to the box my broadband drops to 200kbps.

Nothing has changed, I still have the ADSL filters on all phone lines so I am at a loss as to why the new box has done this.

Anyone know why?

Any help appreciated.

Thanks.

unplug it and never worry about it till sky pester you about it.... then blame their faulty install and equipment:D

likely if the sky boyo run the phone line in... he messed up a connection or put a staple through a cable.. but it could alsobe a faulty modem in the box

It's probably the wiring from the BT pont to the sky box, especially if you've had to put an extender in there. It's probably made with aluminium wire rather than copper and that's introducing noise into the circuit, so your speed is dropping to compensate.

Leave the box unplugged from the BT socket. If you're worried about the letters that sky send telling you to plug it back in then just plug it back in overnight when you're not using your broadband.

Well thanks for the replys but I got in touch with Sky and they are sending an engineer round on Christmas Eve so can't really fault their service.
