I bought a second hand 05 1200gs, it has th ebmw alarm fitted, the previous owner said that he had never used it and that after a while they go to sleep and have to awoken by a dealer is this correct???? is there a way to wake up the alarm ?? the remote works, and I have tried the syncro steps in the manual.

Apparently the alarm sleeps after a certain amount of days after setting it if the bike is not used (at least 7 days).
If I were you I would give the bike a damn good shake and see if the alarm goes off.The alarm can be set to arm itself on the key and beep and flash the lights.Does it do this?or do you use the fob?

The fob seems ok the led is flashing ok, I am sure the alarm has gone to sleep

i've never heard of this - and presumably as you have a manual it says nothing about this in there? I cant remember it saying anything like this.

Sounds more like a problem with the alarm itself?

Recently changed the batteries in my alarm itself, under the back seat sort-of. These are kept full by the bike batt, but if it is flat or low, or after a certain age, I think these batteries cark. The warning comes right at end of start-up cycle on the dash, but who waits?

Just when you get to a point in your life when you think you are reasonably well educated and life rich along comes the day whan you are trying to do something really stupid, like trying to get the alarm to work, with th ebike in the garage, with the key in it DOH!!

Took out the key, and it works.......

Thanks for your help guys
