Slieve Felim trackway and moto cross track

Saturday's run would end close enough to Holycross as we'll be in the back country near Doon. Start would be 11h00 in O'Briensbridge on the Shannon, then through Clare toward Limerick before climbing up towards Gallow's Hill and the boreens towards Killaloe.

I'm there.
Will Blondie stay over that w/e in Holycross as well ? :D :D

I will ask the 2 german fellows which are over at this time...they might join us if ya don't mind.

nud1e: Thank you very much for the pics. they are great ! :thumb

If Mrs.R2D2 has availability (& the price is right ;) ) it wouldn't be a bad idea - only about 60km to Nud1e's starting point.

Personally I don't see why not as long as its alright with nud1e ;) ;)

Clarity

First. Any and everyone is welcome.

11h00 Saturday 19 August meet in O'Brienbridge for a run out in Limerick, Clare and Tipperary and then Limerick again.
I'm thinking that we might do a loop and come back to O'Brienbridge for lunch in The Old Mill, with a little hill climbing (and descending) after some boreens - some of you may not like the descending bit but what goes up must come down. This will be followed by some forestry roads and boreens.

11h00 Sunday 20 August, we'll meet up again this time in Dundrum before heading up to the track and some rough track ways and forestry roads.

Some scenery will be encountered on the way so bring cameras.

Most importantly, I am not responsible for you, your pillion, your bike, your equipment or your behaviour. I will advise you what hazards you may encounter and ask you to take care. You are free to leave at any time but I'd be grateful if you would let me know when and where you are leaving. Some parts of these routes make me nervous but I have ridden them safely with some common sense. Don't bunch up on climbs or descents. Just because others are doing something, doesn't mean that you have to.
Please take care.

086 0563636 will get me (eventually)
Michael

Thurs 27/07 would be best, call me on 086 0563636 for directions, if you haven't bought the OS map 65 or got the GPS working. Low lemon brick bungalow, 2nd on the right before the 5 roads cross as you come to Murroe from Annacotty. Abourt 300 metres after the sign for Hickey's Tiles.
Should be able to manage a cup of tea and a biscuit. Petrol in the village if needed.

I've committed to the 19th/20th, having turned down one of the brothers' invite to a house warming in Strandhill on these dates.
I've been refining the Saturday run and I'm hoping for good weather as some on the views are spectacular. This run will be mostly boreen, single track, hill climbs (and descents), possibly some forestry and some off road. Mostly in the back country but no more than 25 miles from Limerick.
Sunday will include the up and the over of Slieve Felim and the moto track and will mostly likely finish in Toomevara on the N7 Limerick to Dublin.

Again, any and all welcome.

R2
Just tried to send you a PM but you're not accepting..

Planned staying in Carrigahorig, but If you have the number of local B&B it might save some commuting...
My preference would be some eccentric religiously obsessive auld wan .. But I'm not choosey.

Tried and tested

Well I did trail run of part of the route for next Saturday. Found a track that started and ended with "Private Road" but open gates. Lots of gravel and tight bends, some gravel on tight bends, so some changes onto less treacherous roads.
Good news is that some of the forestry roads have their barriers down, so we may be able to run on some of the loose stuff.
Anyway the plan is to meet in O'Brienbridge, on the banks of the Shannon at 11, have a loop through Clare which should take us at least an hour and a half, to bring us back to O'Brienbridge for lunch. We move into Co Limerick and Tipperary after lunch for more boreens, some hill climbs and forestry roads working our way towards Toem / Monard. There will be time to play as I'm no putting a lots of miles on this - about 100 - 120.
Sunday, we meet in Dundrum, Tipperary and then we will be up and over Slieve Felim. we might revisit some of the previous day route while making our way to Toomevara.
If you want to join in, meet us in O'Briensbridge or Dundrum.
My contact number is 086 0563636.
