hi guys six months ago my clutch started slipping but only after 5000rpm in top gear so to be honest its only when i am going for it.any way it seemed to fix itself and never did it again for a good 4000 miles or so ,but today it started doing it again .
it rides perfect in all gears and will not slip in any gear other than top
any advice please could it be a slave cylinder sticking or am i looking at a new clutch
cheers guys

Could be a failing clutch, but worth checking:

Clutch lever being partly held in by poor fitting handguard.

Leaking oil seals contaminating the plates - whip the starter motor off and have a look in the Bell housing.

Knackered oil seal behind the clutch slave cylinder. Oil can run down the push rod onto the clutch. Slave has to be removed to see the seal.

If oil has badly contaminated the plates then its a clutch plate change really.

cheers mate thanks , i am going to take the starter off tomorrow and see what i can see :thumb2

i cannot really see anything even with the starter out,so the bike must come to bits,is there any photos on here how to do it, i know the bike must be split in two.
but can the gearbox be removed with it still attached to the final drive ,in other words the whole lot removed or must the final drive /drive shaft etc be taken off first then tackle the gearbox
thanks in advance ian

fatnfast ,you were dead right mate ,as soon as i took the the clutch slave out a load of gear oil came out, then when i took the gearbox off i could see the gear oil had ran down the shaft and onto the clutch,so many thanks
a new clutch plate a slave seal is ordered.

Bugger, still a good chance to get those splines greased and check out the other seals.
The one behind the slave needs to be at a set depth, so don't forget to measure how far it's set down the tunnel. There is no natural 'stop' behind it. Also there is a felt piece that sits on the push-rod, it will be soaked in oil now so you might want a new one or squeeze the oil out of it.
When you put it back together cut a small Nick out of the paper gasket that sits between the clutch slave cylinder and the gearbox. It will then drip if either the seal or slave leaks against and give you an early warning before it trashes the clutch ;-)

good advise many many thanks ,i will do that .now that i have got the knackered oil seal out i can see that there is a tiny oil way in there and thats probs why the oil seal dosnt have to go all the way in .:thumb
