Hi.

I have got a early gs1300 dec 2023. The Bluetooth connection to both the helmet and phone is very slow. About 30 seconds. I know other people with the same bike and it's virtually instant.

What I've observed is that it is actually not the Bluetooth which is slow to connect. It just takes about 25 seconds for the Bluetooth symbol to start registering on the dash.

Has anyone else had this problem and did you find a fix ?

lots of variables - it would help if you give details of the phone & headset make and model, plus state whether the headset is connected to the phone or bike. Also, is there some sort of navigation system involved?

Maybe you need the bike's TFT firmware updating (dealer) ? Something for the next service visit perhaps. Similarly, ensure the headset firmware is UTD.

Always make sure you pair your phone to the bike first, then helmet to the bike.

Otherwise, are you using any other BT devices in the vicinity, say a smart watch or Nav, that could interfere with connectivity?

Thanks for the replies. To be clear I think the problem is it's actually taking about 25 seconds for the bike's Bluetooth system to start up. Once I see the Bluetooth symbol on the dash flashing, the rest happens very quickly.

The bike should be up to date with the latest firmware. It's always been serviced at BMW and was done 2 months ago.

To be more specific, when you switch on your TFT how long does it take before you see the Bluetooth symbol flash ?

mine is the same - the bluetooth module on the bike takes ages to boot-up - its weird. I think its even longer than the 25s you are quoting.

i just thought this was "normal" - is it not?

My 1250 was similarly slow and my 13GSA is the same. So it's "normal" in my experience.

Used to be same on both my 1250 and 1300GS....slow connecting Bluetooth, had to do it in a certain order
No resolve for the issue but
Now use a connected ride navigator
And the connection is within seconds to both my phone and cardo....everytime
It seems overide the TFT by default and all connections are via the CRN

The TFT is unfortunately showing its age now, with my 2018 which was the first one to come in with the TFT I kind of accepted the weak points and the connection issues. 8 years later it's exactly the same.

Slow to connect, sometimes it drops connections or forgets about your devices, etc, etc... I completely drop the TFT and use my navigator instead
