Hi, I am looking at buying a small (around 7l) tank bag with a SW motech type quick release. I have found a good website that is cheap but they offer a quick release for BMW with six screws or one with no screws, the bike I am getting will be a new 08 GS early next month so I can't check my own bike out. I am also in the middle of the Indian ocean at the moment so heading down to a local dealers for a gander is not an option.

Any advice on which type I need will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I recently bought the small SW Motech Quick Lock Day Pack 2 with a capacity of 5-7 litres and find it great. I use it mainly for my camera gear and without expanding it I can easily fit in my camera with lens attached, a zoom lens, flashgun and other odds and ends. The 6 Screw adaptor was easy to fit to my 07 R1200GS and I would imagine the screws are still in the same place on the new model.

Here is a photo of the bag on my GS. I sewed on a couple of padded nylon compact camera bags (from local Poundland) onto the top of it as these are handy for putting a camera, sunglasses or an iPod in. At the moment I havn't got a photo of the inside of the bag with camera stuff in it but it really is great for camera gear. Nice and easy to unclip and has carry straps.

Must get around to selling my old tank bag :rob

Thanks for the advice, I looked at the touratech and very nearly went for it, ended up ordering a 9l bag that attachs with the SW motech quick release.

The speakers look ace:clap

Hi Wingnut,
hope you bought the right connector. I have a Motech with quick release which I am very pleased with. The petrol cap where the quick connect goes is different on the O7 GS as the screws are visible and it's easy to fit the quick connect. With 07 on the screws are not visible and you have to buy a different quick connect to fit.

A bit of a hijack but M1 can you tell me does the touratwat bag come with the map holder or does have to be ordered seperatley?

Hi Velomannot

I read on a thread a couple of weeks ago (which I now cannot find) that the cap had changed when the tank had a redesign so I have ordered the attachment with no screws, there was also a note on the link from skyenet about a different connector post 97. Looking forward to picking it upat the end of the month.

Cheers
